Nice truck--man trucks are getting crazy expensive. We're looking at 2500 series Dodges now, as a toy hauler is in our future.

Very nice. I was on the market for a truck this summer and I was looking at those. I needed a truck that I could haul stuff and not just haul @ss. LOL. I am envious though. Got to like a 500 hp anything. LOL.

Same here. I actually went to a Dodge dealer and started asking questions about payload, tow ratings and such when they first came out. I was disappointed to say the least.

    The convo went like this:

Salesguy: Lookin' at that SRT-10, huh?
    Me: Yep.
Salesguy: Think you can handle it? *chuckle*
    Me: ...
    *awkward pause*
    Salesguy: ...So...uhhh...got any questions?
-- Some time passes with other questions--
Salesguy: Yeah, it does come with a manual if you want it that way.
Me: What's the payload capacity for the manual?
Salesguy: Uhhhh...Dodge doesn't recommend you carry more than 500 pounds in the vehicle...
Me: Seriously? Does that include passengers?
Salesguy: Hmmm....yes, that's for gee vee double you.
Me: That sucks. What about it's tow rating?
Salesguy: Hmmmm...Well, Dodge doesn't recommend you tow anything with the RAM SRT-10.
Me: You gotta be kidding me? Not even a jetski or a dirt bike?
Salesguy: Nope. We aren't even allowed to install a trailer hitch. Voids the warranty. (dunno how true that was)
Me: Why would I buy this for $65K when another $15K and I can get a Viper with a Viper body instead of a truck body?
Salesguy: We can show you a Viper!

    I left.

Who sells a truck and then tells you that you can't use it as a truck?

Not to detract from NotaSuv's purchase, I was just completely stunned at that. Even Toyota's S-Runner still did truck stuff. It's a nice truck I just always felt Dodge missed the mark slightly on that one.

Oh and the silver is the best color IMO. They look garish is red and black shows every ding, scratch and dent on those front fenders. A guy I worked with at Lockheed had one in black. One small hailstorm later and his front fenders looked like golf balls painted black. The silver looks sharp though! If you go and modify it though, watch the tailgate. Keep it well waxed because they tend to run rich after modifications and you'll get soot and varnish all over the back of the truck if you're not careful.

very true no towing at all..........well hell I can get my beer home quickly ;) have nothing to tow...living on a lake with a boat slip so if a boat is ever in the pic theres a spot for it....went into this knowing that I was buying a most useless truck as far as towing or hauling.....and a gas pig to no end......but hell a Viper for under 20K I'm all in.......and damn it sounds sweet winding down in gear........I was hooked a few seconds after pushing that lil red button.....

Those are the reasons (except for the red button) that I got the Lightning. But the Lightning will tow 5500 pounds and hauls around 800 pounds (1,000 with towing package which I have). Not quite as good as the other F-150's of 2001 but still useful. Still, nothing like stomping the gas pedal and listening to blower whine! Grab the shifter and back it down a gear and let it coast...sounds like a Cup car down shifting with the grumbles and pops as the ignition backs down.

The questions I hated the most: "Gas mileage must suck, huh?" If I was worried about gas mileage, I wouldn't have bought a Lightning.

I haven't had much time to drive it lately. Think I'll fire the beast up either this weekend or next (maybe both) and take it for a ride.

If a person is worried about gas mileage when shopping for a mid-life crisis vehicle, then you don't deserve to buy a mid-life crisis vehicle!

Well done! Thats BADASS!!! Next up should be a girlfriend half your age.

I'm loving the hell out of my mid-life crisis toy! My 2011 Harley Davidson Fat Bob.
I'm not saying she's a slut, but if her vagina had a password...it would be password.
