    Default Pittsburgh Adventure

Drove from Atlanta to spend Thanksgiving with my wifes' family, and was able to hook up with some polkies,,he,he,,or maybe I should say "How Carls' vinyl rig will change your life". Started out at Vintage Hi Fi of Pittsburgh,,yep,,the usual suspects,,tubes you say,,well lemme' tell you,,tubes are Mandatory in Pittsburgh,,as in Dynaco Monos' to keep you warm on these cold Pa. nights,,or maybe it was Carls Rogue,,or maybe the Audio Research Phono pre,,,yep, these fellas' "know the glow",and they know it all too well. Aftera two dollah and siddy cent ride,I was introduced to the most involving, organic and captivating vinyl rig that I have heard so far,,did a little mini A/B with a Modwright Sony 999ES(tubed of course) and Carls' heavywieght vinyl front end,, gimme' that vinyl rig and I'm set for life,,yep,,that good. Anyhow,,I wanted to take the time to thank Tom Huffman,Tom Beemers, and Carl Schwartz for their hospitality and making me feel like I just came home.Top shelf folks, top shelf gear,,,the rest is a Club Polk classified tweak,,seriously,,thank ya'll and your families, for making this Thanksgiving a very memorable one.I hope you had as much fun as I did.

Cannot upload pics this moment,,back with some if a dew.

    Greetings George!

You are just too kind with your comments on my humble rig. As you noted the tubes rule in the Kraken den.

It was great to see you and Janice at Tom's place. It was kind of a mini Polk meet at the Vintage Hi-Fi Store. If you look at the last photo where four of us are posed in the shop, there is me and George, way in the back is the store owner Tom who's screen name on the Polk Forum is Beemer417, and the very tall man on the end is Tom, who's Polk screen name is thuffman03. Yes he is that tall. These guys are well known on the Carver Forum also. It was a great couple of days and fun listening to tunes. George humored me by touring my garden which of course is empty.

George if you are headed to Jerry's on Friday, let me know. I'll cruise on down there. It's about 20 minutes from my house.

    Happy Thansgiving!
    Carl

Good people having a good time. One of the things that makes CP the special place it is.
    'Political Correctness'.........defined

"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

    Hi George!

I'm glad that you are home safe and sound. It was great to see you and Janice. I hope to see you again soon.

Tommy should start a photo collection of the friends and customers who have traveled far to see the "candy store". Where else can you shop for stereo gear, listen to tunes and have a beer during your visit?

    Two things are for sure,
    1) Carl's system kicks a*s,
    2) Vintage HI FI Pittsburgh is a awesome place.

I wish I was able to make it to meet you guy's there, maybe next time.

George, you are way too kind. I enjoy my rig but I'm still riding in mid fi and enjoying it. I think the Polks are what makes everything sound so good.
