New to polk -Setting up a 2.0 system

Hello polk people. Over a year ago i set out to put a home theater together. I originally wanted some polk rtia5s (or 7s or 9s). I needed to buy used though to save some money as i am still in college without a job. Well i ended up getting a full klipsch reference system a pioneer elite receiver and a 52'' sony lcd a paradigm dsp-3400 sub and a couple of other goodies. Well that itch was scratched for a while but now i want to set up a 2.0 system in my bedroom. I just bought a pair of black rtia3s used on craigslist. I really wanted cherry and feel like i settled and the price was under $200. Maybe buyers remorse? I already have a denon AVR-3802 and plan to use that as my 2.0 receiver (although it is bright compared to my pioneer elite). I am not going to be able to hook the system up until about next weekend so i have no idea what to expect. Might be too bright? I know i am going to be lacking in the bass department but i do not see another subwoofer in the close future. Maybe you guys can give me some input on what to expect. Next thing i need to talk about is the source. I was originally just planning to do this as a simple system and using my ipod (analog inputs to headphone jack) for mp3s and using the tuner on the receiver although once again its reception is lackluster next to the pioneer elite. I do not have any cds but do you guys suggest i get a cd player and some cds from goodwill? If so what do you guys recommend as the cheapest cd player with a good dac (sacd would be cool too). Gosh and my table will only fit the two speakers and the receiver. I am not really sure what all i am asking you guys but any input would be great.

Hello BBR, How have you used the Denon that gave you the impression it was brighter than the Pioneer? I'm curious as I always considered the Denons I've had in the past to be some what on the warm side. Also the Klipsch (never heard them) are always lumped into the horn loaded basket as typically being brighter than non horn speakers. It is hard for me to predict what you will hear, but I would expect the Denon/RTiA3s to be warmer than the Pioneer/Klipsch. While the RTiA line is known as a little bright, I just can't picture them as brighter than the Klipsch. The Denon you have did you buy that used? Maybe find the reset procedure to set it back to the factory settings, and start from there by running the auto cal. As far as source I do not care for MP3, but being strapped for cash I would say stick with that. If you buy a CDP then you will be needing to buy CDs. Maybe better to wait on that until school is finished and paying off with a job. Then you should have a little more expendable cash to buy what you really want instead of settling, and maybe not end buyers remorse but reduce it a little Good luck, let us know what you think when you get it hoocked up. Well when i first got the denon receiver (used) i switched it out in my main home theater and it has been sitting there about a month. Just by the little bit of home theater and music i have listened to i think it is definitely brighter. I know people compared the denon (avr-3802) to my pioneer receiver (vsx-45tx) in the past and alot of people preferred the denon. I dont know what they were smoking though because i prefer the pioneer in looks, sound quality and features. Yeah when i first got my klipsch i was surprised that they were a little bright but the pioneer is quite warm and evened things out. I have the klipsch rf-82s and matching center and surrounds. Yeah i should set my denon back to factory settings when i set this up and try the speakers set on both small and large. Its not like i have no more money to put up towards a cdp or a dac so any other recommendations are welcome. I had a pioneer elite dv-37 dvd/cd player that i got with the denon receiver and sold. I was surprised at its ability to play cds over my blu-ray player. Also would you recommend getting a tuner? I used to have my klipsch set up in my bedroom and really got hooked on a local radiostation that has some great esoteric music. The problem is that the station is a little difficult to pull in although i can pull it in fine in my car. I guess i am just not sure whether i will want to throw anymore money into a system that is going to completely fall short of my klipsch system which is right in the next room
