    Default apl an interesting mystery

i had never heard of these guys, even though im from atlanta.

the gear i bought from a divorce sale, including these speaks was high quality consumer level.

these little guys are remarkable, especially for their size.

the only reference i could find on the net was a review for a similar size speaker from this company, the reviewer raved(although i always wonder about the objectivity of these reviewers, maybe some sort of incentives from companys?)

i have never seen any for sale or comments on sites such as these.

kinda cool actually, since they were thrown in on a deal.

Feel like a gynecologist... or at least a spelunker …

... but think I recognize one of the wires.

EDIT: On a more serious note... I can't shake the thought that somewhere here (or perhaps at AK) there was a discussion about some speakers from a defunct, Atlanta based company... Could hae been APL, but I want to say it was Atlanta Sound (something).

Maybe someone with a better memory will come along...

I do recognise the DCM TF 400's if I remember my old set. I know they're not my old ones, but man did they sound good!!
Most people just listen to music and watch movies . I am glad to be a part of a select group that tries to take our auditory and visual senses to a higher level: we EXPERIENCE them.... GOT SDA?...GOT SUNFIRE? ...GOT Maggies?

    Default good eye tony

yeah, the DCMs i bought from a guy who talked about them like they were his first girlfriend.

he had the boxes and styrofoam and they seemed almost untouched

these are the next to lowest model in their lineup,i can only imagine what their top of the line time windows are like.

i can only imagine it because i have let 2 pair slip by me on cl, but im gonna land some one day.

also, im going to check ak to see if i can find something about apl speakers.

Default what about the drivers magnets?

the main thing i was wondering about the speakers was the magnets basically being as large as the opening, and there does not appear to be much in the way of cages or depth for a cone.

    Default these are they

that is the one reference i have been able to find anywhere about this comp.

those are much like mine except mine are poured resin, those look to have wood.

one thing im sorta befuddled by, the passive sub i got along with the prism 500s in the pic from our living room, in a word sux.

I really think there might be something wrong with it, i cant imagine someone buying speakers the quality of the others and then hearing the tiny muffled sound from the sub.

I think it might be my first project to try to repair something of quality.

first i have to figure how to get the speaker off, its the only way in, but
