New Polk Audio Monitor 70 Tweeter looks damaged

Hello All,

I am new to this forum and home theater setup. I bought couple of Monitor 70s from NewEgg and after few back and forth of speakers due to shipping damages and I finally got couple of good looking packages.

One of the speaker did not have any damage on the outside box, but the tweets seems to be damaged. I am not sure it is a damage or all right. Please take a look at this picture and kindly advice me whether I should keep this speaker or return it or get another one from NewEgg.

Absolutely. It's your money and I would expect that NOT to be what I paid for.

That tweeter has a severe case of "Circuitcityitis"; definite finger poke.

Time for a call to Newegg to get a RMA number.

Call Polk and tell them the situation?

They can just send a replacement tweeter instead of a whole new speaker...

Return it,, to get new speakers, and have this happen is a joke,,, I would keep sending it back until you get what you paid for,,, and dont call polk for a replacement,,, Because if you change it yourself, and miss something up,, your warrenty is void,, I KNOW, Did it before, jimmy.

if you could mess up something as simple as switching out a driver or tweeter....you need a boombox:)

Bravo,, but, it can, and does happen,, Just saying, why take the chance,, you shouldnt have to, being its new, and under warrenty,, Speaking of boomboxes, ive got a couple from the early 80,s panasonic junk,, but a big deal, back in the day.

I really appreciate all your replies. I have requested NewEgg to send a replacement instead of dealing with Warranty and replacing tweeter. I am a No-ob on speakers.

Fwiw I had to change out a tweeter on my Cs1 and it literally took about 45 seconds and an allen wrench, however i'd return it as well.

Does the tweeter work? Personally, since it's a soft dome tweeter, I'd try the usual methods of popping it back out & see what you get. Chances are you won't even be able to tell it was pushed in. Are there any other signs of damage or evidence that they we're previous returns? If not, why deal with the hassle of having to yet again return them. I'm not saying they shouldn't have beeen perfect out of the box, but the fix is simple.

What if he ends up ripping the dome off trying to fix it? Not everyone wants to fix things, replace parts, etc. What's wrong with going thru the channels that are available to him? Right, nothing.
