Default SDA SRS for home theater

This is my first post on this forum so if I have missed the answer to my questions in a thread somewhere please dont flame me :)

    OK here goes:

I am located in Singapore and have been offered a pair of sda srs 1.2s at a very reasonable price. The condition is a bit weak (one tweeter blown, case cosmetics 6 out of 10) but the guy only wants 600 US$ for them which seems like a good value considering the price they make in the states.

I want to build a home theater setup in my new house but since I am spending all my money on the house (and then some) my wife will kill me if I drop 5000 US$ on the audio for the home theater rig. "think of the beautiful refrigerator we could have had " she will say!

As a result I am not going to be able to go out and buy a hard core bi amp setup etc etc and I am going to have to get by with my Yamaha RXV 2095 receiver and other hardware.

The question I have is: will a 100 watt per channel receiver be able to do these speakers justice? This is one of yamahas top of the range products but still......

From the number of threads I see mentioning 1000w per channel systems I start to worry that I may be asking a bit too much of this receiver.

From the reviews I have read the speakers seem to have a great big sound field which seems like it would be ideal for home theater use and honestly the price is low enough that it is not a hellish risk, but some opinions would be great, especially from someone with direct experience with this kind of setup.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dennis

I'm using a high current yammy on my 2.3's, its not as good as yours but still a full 100 watts/channel...does it do it justice...sort of. I auditioned an adcom 55xx amp and it did sound a lot better, but my wife said, "you one crazy mofo, you better return that before I return you" so I had to return the amp. I say get the speakers and save money for a good amp, I have two more birthdays and one more Christmas before I can afford a good amp, but the speakers are well worth it.

    Absolutely not.

One thing you should also realize is that the original SL2000 tweeter is no longer in production. The new replacement SL2000 tweeter (with the black dome) is not an exact sonic match for the original silver dome tweeter. However, since you will only be replacing one tweeter out of four, it might not be that noticeable.

    Where are you located?

I have decided not to get the speakers. Are you seriously interested in contacting the owner?

    Dennis

PS I dont think it would be worth shipping these speakers if you are in Hong Kong. The condition is just not that good. If you were in Singapore they would be worth considering since the price is reasonable. By the time you start paying for shipping you might as well consider a mint pair that have spent their life in a lower humidity region.

    Dennis,

What do you think if I will only get The Crossovers, Tweeters, Drivers, PR's. Shipping doesn't cost that much.
