Default got it all for 40 bucks

we were in atlanta getting a bed, called the guy, he was one exit down, about ten minutes away.

Long story short he just wanted this stuff out of the way, i offered 40 dollars, he even loaded that beast of a runco projector by himself.

Everything is older stuff but virtually spotless, was left after a redo of his home theater.

The marantz is head and shoulders above my denon 3300, as far as pure sound quality.

The bass coming from my cs350 center is remarkable, i thought the sub level was elevated, but it was the center.

As a bonus, it was made to work with and trigger the marantz ma 500u monos i already have.no more getting up just to manually turn those off.

The pioneer cd and the gigantic sony dvd-cd might find their way to a thrift store thats for charity, or a vet in town who could use it.

Not sure yet, what the video processor on the couch does, but probably nothing relevant today.

if i could find a replacement blue bulb for the runco, we might use it against the house for picnics or something, never know.

Great deals! The silicon image device is probably a video processor/doubler for the projector since it's an analog tube projector. Use it with a laser disc player, lol.

Nice score. It looks like that is a Marantz SR8000. The 8000 series is the top of the AVR line today. Does anyone know if that was the case with this model. Because that would explain its trumping the Denon 3300 some?

    Enjoy!

just noticed the wire mess in some of the pics, its been a madhouse, moving a lot of stuff around, also i have a damn entertainment cabinet and crt tv, its almost impossible to really get back there and chang things without removing the 150 lb. tv, but im gonna do it someday, i know there has to be interference having power and other wires near and crossing each other.

Default lp box is a story unto itself

george, those are a few of my albums i have had for years, the wine crates i have most of my lps in are an interesting story.

IN 1994, i was installing and maintaining the landscape for the inventor of the dial up modem, Dennis Hayes.

He was worth about 150 million at the time, because for years, if you wanted the cadillac modem, you would get a hayes modem.

Little did i know, that fall, they would file for bankruptcy because he was a brilliant physicist and a lousy businessman who thought he was" going to manage this business out of bankruptcy".

eventually, he lost not only the mansion in atlanta, but the place in the south of france, his flat in london, his condo in california, and his 6 or seven factorys around the world.

But that summer, he was spending money, building a beautiful wine cellar, tasting room, downstairs, trucking in expensive cases of wine, and scottyboy snagged a bunch of the wooden boxes befor the knucklehead maintenance guy could bust the rest up.

This guys story is tragic, the hubris and denial that led to a fortune being lost by a farmboy from spartanburg south carolina who went on to change the world, and host partys there at the house where i worked attended by bill gates and gubernatorial candidates, senators and other millionaires who would of course, later turn their back on him is fascinating.

Someday i will post some of the pics of their place, they led quite the life.
