Default Windows 7 starter and printer software

Anyone try to load printer software for a multi-function machine onto Windows 7 starter?

Of course, the printer does not indicate if it is compatible with 7 starter.

I just put the same software on XP and the printer works but not the scanner. Put it on Vista and everything works fine...

    thanks, ng

The vista driver should work. Did you go to the manufactures website?

The Vista driver should work, like ben said. However, isn't Starter the version that limits how many programs you can have running at the same time?

If it does, most printing software has a utility that loads with Windows, which might cause issues. Something to keep in mind.

Windows starter is a baby os on most netbooks, which I have...my concern is that the printer software will overload the os....unfortunately, MicroManage doesn't really tell you what you can and cannot do with the OS....like most, mine has only 1 gig of RAM....but that would only seem to be part of the story..

1GB is more than enough to run Windows 7 smoothly. If you have the ability, I would see about reinstalling a different version of 7, or even XP. You'll get a lot more out of your netbook that way.

Just load the driver and not the program.

In an earlier post that I did on netbooks, some thought Windows 7 standard (Home Premium I guess) wouldn't run well on 1 gig....and certainly wouldn't leave enough RAM for other programs to run...

    Microsoft does have a 7 upgrade site...but they don't recall if it recommends a minimum RAM....I'll check...thanks....

I really got the netbook to be an email/web browsing toy and not a full-blown laptop....so I am not really bothered if it is limited as to the programs it can run...

    thanks...

I thought Windows 7 was a improvement over Vista. Why does it just find the printer on the network , ask you if you would like to use it , tell you how much ink is left and give you a website when you need ink?

    Drivers , thats funny.
