Default Protect mode HK AVR 85

My Harmon Kardon AVR 85 is going into protect mode even at very low volume.

Sometimes it will work for 10 min or so but then starts jumping in and out of PM. At first I thought I must have a short in the speaker wire but that is not the case.

Is there anything I should check before giving up on this otherwise nice (if a bit old) AVR?

Had something similar happen to me once. Try disconnecting ALL cabling, including the ICs, unplug it from the wall, then reconnect everything.

That wont make a differance,, as heat evaporates dust, Unless it sat,, unplayed, for a year,

Dust is a solid material, it cannot "evaporate". It's not water.

Check all your connections and yeah, blow it out.

    Wow, dust evaporates ??
And to think I've been waiting for a month now for it to dissappear in my house.

You and me both. After a year abroad I didn't expect to find any left in my house. My gear was unhooked for that year. Still played, though?

With that news I'm going to run around the house with my hair dryer and see if it helps.
