    Default Heavy Metal Parking Lot

Possibly one of the most hilarious 16 minute documentaries I could imagine. I've run across some mentions of it online, but today I finally found it on hulu.

Basically, camcorder-quality footage shot in the parking lot of the former Capital Center in Largo, MD, in 1986, prior to a Judas Priest concert. My biggest fear was that I would show up somewhere in the background! I saw JP 3 times there in the 80s..., but I was relieved when I checked my pile of concert ticket stubs and realized I wasn't at that particular show! My wife (not a JP fan) was speechless watching this. I assured her that I never once went shirtless at a concert.

Hilarious and embarrassing at the same time! Some of the quotes you hear in this film are a riot! I wonder where these people are now... Ha! OMG.

    It's also available here:

    The description:
HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT is considered one of the greatest rock and roll movies of all time, although it’s actually a hilarious documentary tribute to rock and roll’s GREATEST FANS. Filmed in 1986 at a Maryland concert arena parking lot before a heavy metal show, HMPL is an unvarnished anthropological study of American metalheads in their mid-’80s glory.

It is the quintessential ‘80s magnum opus, made complete with a vast display of muscle cars, spandex, bleach-blonde frizzy perms, bare-chested dudes, Mullets From Hell, faded denim metal chicks, and the largest collection of late ‘70s Camaros ever seen in one location. Virtually unknown to mainstream audiences for two decades, HMPL was a VHS bootleg favorite among musicians, movie stars and cult-video fanatics worldwide.

Seriously, if you're into 80s metal - CHECK THIS OUT! It's priceless!

    That was interesting.

I really hope I didn't act that stupid back in the 80's when I was in my 20's going to concerts in a similar condition.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

    Seriously??????

After the first few minutes it was just boring and repetitive.

I think it's a cult favorite... "greatest" would be overstating it a bit, but it's definitely real. Good for you that it wasn't much longer than a few minutes, huh?

A Marylander probably appreciates it a bit more than someone not as familiar with Largo, DC101, Ocean City, Glen Burnie, etc...

For just a moment, I thought that blue Nova in the opening scene belonged to a friend of mine!

Uh, yeah. The 20 year old making out with the 13 year old was awesome. Kind of pathetic he couldn't find a 10 year old, but what the hell, right?

^^ Pretty disgusting and sad really, but apparently true. I didn't see any good role models in there. There was probably grounds for arresting half or more of them. Let's hope that guy's stint in the military straightened him out. I wonder what her parents thought of that situation. I do remember some girls from high school who always dated older guys, but not tht much older. Maybe 4 or 5 years.

Well ..... "HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT is considered one of the greatest rock and roll movies of all time, " ..... uhm ...... I dunno ..... if by "greatest" one means, " most rage-inducining, rampage-causing mislabelled piece of celluloid in the history of mankind", I would completely agree.

More like, "Skank-O-Rama", IMO. (that blonde gal at about 6:30 was okay, though).
