I looked at those, and liked the price, but went with four monitor 70s, a CS2 center and a PSW505 Powered Sub. I like the sound I got. These were my first Polk Audio products, and because I got everything I needed, they may be my last. I am delighted.

i beleive that you should have gone with the cs2 if you have the space for it, otherwise the cs1 should be fine.

Why is everyone shooting their Polks?

I recently upgraded my entire set-up and went all Polk and an Onkyo SR608 receiver. I did use the M40's as rear surrounds and they sound GREAT. I also used the advised Pinpoint AM-40's to hang those and they look and work great as well. Pinpoint makes a very nice and clean product, it has a plastic piece that covers the screws. It also swivels side to side, up and down for optimal speaker setting. Good luck with your set-up.

I'd kill to hear that setup on a good 200-300wpc amplifier.

Well, I have had this setup for about a year now, and am driving the speakers with a 120 wpc NAD T787 receiver/amplifier. I have never owned so nice a sounding setup, and I have owned a bunch. The NAD has a more mellow sound than my previous (Pioneer) which was quite crisp, to the point of sometimes sounding harsh (Pioneer calls it Bright). I love this NAD, and the Polk were the perfect speakers to add to it. I went just big enough (well maybe larger than big enough, but not too large for me) If I got bigger, I could not contain it in the room it is in. I cannot use higher outputs, as it just gets toooooo loud, but I would be deaf before I got any distortion. I get no distortion that I can detect. More power would only be that... more power. I cannot use what I have now, so 300 wpc would need an auditorium to contain it. I use this in a home theater setup with both a 58" Plazma from Samsung and with a Panasonic projector on a 100" screen, depending on the number of people there to watch and the dynamics of the movie. Avatar needs the Panasonic projector and screen, but is amazing on either viewing option. The sound is incredible. I highly recommend what I am using to anyone who wants it more for movies than for music. Do not get me wrong, it is great for music too, but I am not into the more modern types of music, so I would not wish to live next door to someone who was, and who had this setup, lol. I am only using 5 of my 7 outputs, due to the size of the room, but I think a couple of bookshelf monitors could round this out even better for someone with a huge listening area. For me - 5.1 is lots, even though my NAD is 7.1

NAD is great stuff! Your gear is precisely the reason why you are enjoying your m70s so much. Those speakers can sound great, or not so great, depending on how you drive them.

CS1 is a good center channel speaker, but the rest of your speakers are a notch up in performance and from all my research and experience I believe you most likely would be better served with a CS2. You are talking about less than $40.00 difference. (not even a tank of gas!) It's like you just bought a Porsche and you are running it on regular gas. Hey, it starts up and gets you from point A to point B, but you are missing out on what it was designed for.

Warning: There is no end to upgrading with your new hobby. No matter what you buy there will always be alternate choices that you could have gone with. This is a great place to hang out and learn.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new polks. Now wave good by to your wallet.

Regarding regals post. I have come to realize that a properly matched center is very important. I went from a csi3 center with my mains being rtia5's. I thought it sounded great. I recently got a great deal on a csia6 and wow, I never realized what I was missing. IMO a matched quality center and a decent sub are the too most important over looked items in a HT setup.

Just some food for thought, from my experiences
