Default Cat put a hole in the urathane on my driver

    Wow, I just noticed this...

    can it be repaired?

err. I think I need to replace the driver, then sell these. I need to get some monitors that stand high enough so that he can't stretch on them.

Cheaper just to kill the kitty.

    (sings)Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap!

    J/K kitty lovers.

I don't know of a fix for that other than replacing the driver. I would contact Monitor and see what they have to say before I did something that would tamper with the warranty(if one applies). I remember Polk having a very liberal replacement policy back in the day for SDA drivers, and hopefully the same is true of Monitor.

Yep, seen that before. Rubber cement works pretty good to seal it. If that isn't strong enough, try some Goop.

I guess I'll call monitor on monday. I am going to start cat proofing everything for the future. I think I am going to replace these speakers some bookshelves with metal speaker covers... and tall stands.

I have fixed a few of that exact kind of tear in subwoofers (cat claw tears too) and a polk midwoofer to..

There is a vinyl window sealer wraping that is just like the surround material. Very thin and flexible and will stick to back of that rolled surround for the life of the driver. Very easy to work with!!!!!!

Just give a local carpenter friend, or local vinyl siding co a call. They should give you a foot of it for free. It's 6" wide. You cut a piece off to fit your need.....3/8"X1/2" or so.

Please try to get some!! It works PERFECT.

I have 4 cats. 3 of them are stupid and scratch everything. One of them, (Jackie), the only Male is very smart. He knows the word NO. If I point to something and say NO he closes his eyes, nods his head and makes this little noise and he never touches that item. He's very smart. The other 3 are locked away in the Garage and Laundry room.

Jackie has free reign of the house. He was born in the streets, his mother was an alley cat. When I got him his left eye was completely closed and puffy. It had an infection. I got him cream to cure it and I applied it 3 times a day. The first 2 days were tough. After that I think he realized it was working and he let me apply it. From that day on he became my cat. If I call him, no matter where he is or what he is doing he will run to me and come lay down on my lap. I'm on toilet right now and he's here on the sink waiting for me to be done.

One of the other cats peed on a $2400 leather couch. The couch is now in the garage waiting for bulk garbage day!!!

    I hate those other cats!!!

Repair it with one of the methods mentioned above. It is just the surround and if repaired will have little if any impact on the sound.

I was thinking of selling them because the cat is just gonna do it again... maybe I'll just have to repair them and end up keeping them as spares.

    Default Driver repair

Use a thin flexible fabric to re-enforce the glue. Coat the fabric with the glue and stick it on. Should work find.

Yeah, I will probably try one of the above methods, but I think the real solution is to get something on stands, with metal grill covers... currently, I have the speakers up against the wall so he can't reach the drivers.
