NAD T752 hum/buzz

Just got this baby the other day and noticed some hum/buzz emitting from the speakers. I went through my system step-by-step to track down the problem. I tracked it down to my new NAD receiver. Put my ear up to the receiver and there was a buzz/hum coming from the power source/transformer inside...granted some receivers emit this but mine was slightly louder than usual and I could hear it going through my speaker cables to the speakers. Anyone with a NAD of the same model or higher/lower ever hear anything like this on their system? Turn your system on with no other components and put your ear next to the speaker...just curious. I am trying to get it replaced where I bought it from as we speak, this thing should not happen with such a quality receiver...but I guess it can happen to the best of them

Sounds like it may be a ground loop problem. I have heard a hum before, and it was solved by using a nice power strip from Monster Cable. Another unit was fixed with using an adapter on the unit itself. It was a Parasound unit, that had this ground loop hum.

I have also been told the using an 2 prong adapter on the power cable, eliminates this effect. I would not use that option, grounding is too important. Just FYI.

The best thing you can do is like you are doing and try to get the unit replaced. It could be a lot of things like mentioned above. I remember reading about some noisy cooling fan problems with some of these units as well.

My NAD experience was with a NAD C270 power amp and it worked flawlessly. NAD makes good gear but their A/V receivers have been known to have some bugs. The cd players / power amps I don't read of too many problems with them. If you get a good one you'll be okay. I auditioned a T762 receiver vs. Rotel 1055 and the T762 didn't have any noise that I could hear like you mention.

Yes, unfortunately sometimes these things happen even to nice gear.

I had a similiar problemswith my NAD T752 and I eventually ended up returning it. I also had some digital pops and other strange digital noises at times that I just couldn't live with.

Humming and digital pops aside it was a great sounding unit.

I believe some of the issues in the early production run have been cleared up in the newest ones.

Thanks for your reply's guys...yeah, aside from it sounding amazing, the buzz gets anoying especially when listening with headphones...like some background noise that shouldn't be there. I'm in the process of having it replaced with a new one...just hope the other one works out okay :(

Found out what the problem was...NAD uses cheap RCA shortening plugs on the back of the unit for the external 7.1 inputs. I was just curious and read somewhere that cheap plugs can actually put noise back into the system. I removed these plugs and bamm...no more buzz/hum in my system. Just wanted to share...am releived now
