It won't be too many years before we hear the same about WWII vets. I think the world will be a wierd place when nobody living in it fought in WWII.

On another note, the article says last veteran, but then goes on to say at the end that there are two more known vets still alive, I presume because those are NOT US veterans, but the article title wasn't specific to last US veteran is dead...wierd

...Hard to believe that only 100 years ago, homes were composed of 3 generations of family under one roof. Family history and stories were passed down. Now its hard to find a home with one undivorced family living together , lucky if they are even speaking to each other. Problem with modern society is that we don't revere our elders. He must of had a lot of stories. WWI was pure hell.

I love talking to my grandad about his life, he lived through the depression and fought in WWII...think of all the stuff that older generation has lived through.

Exactly. Thankfully I've been able to sit down with my granddad a couple of times and take massive amounts of notes.

I think I'm going to do a very long video session next; I just can't seem to re-tell the stories as well as he tells them, no matter how many times I've heard them...

Hah, and he is no bones about it. From being scared sh1tless in Midway, to visiting "lady friend houses" in Japan after the war, he tells it all with no filter. I love my granddad

I remember knowing quite a few WWI vets.
Just about everyone else was a WWII or Korea vet.
Now the Nam vets are all over 60. Time marches on.
