klipsch would not mix with the Polk's well. Why do you want to down grade?
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.

I agree with Ben, I would keep the Klipsch out of the mix. I would think the A3's would be a good speaker for HT, but keep in mind it will be a considerable difference from what you are used to with the A7's. Like Ben said, why are you downsizing?

How can you downgrade and upgrade at the same time? The Klipsch would be a bad fit regardless.

A3's are good. I guess as other stated why do you want to move from a tower to bookshelf now? Space limitations? Moving?

Already sounds like a good set up not sure why you would want to change it up.

Explain smaller profile. The difference between the LSi and RTi towers is minimal. The A9 might be the exception due to its depth, but I don't see where going to a bookshelf w/ stands or moving to the LSi series would have any difference in "profile".

    I guess I don't understand your problem....your sig says you have RTiA3s and a PSW505 - that right there is ' a good L/R speaker' and sub.

What is it that you don't like?

I had a very similar L/R/C combo with a sub and thoroughly enjoyed the sound - quite 'good'.

    Are you looking for 'better'?

What kind of space are we talking about, because as Erik says above...your current combo would work fine in a small to mid-size (not too big) space. I run a similar set up in that size room and with the Polk sub it's FINE for HT. And not bad at all for 'music'!

    huh?

seriously what the hell did you just say because I can't understand any of it.

If you want a good book shelf for HT and music LSI are a good way to go. If you want to keep towers than run RTIA9's for HT and LSI can be good for music and movies. If you just want to do HT then do RTI.

Its really what you like personally. I could tell you all day long that Paradigm S8's are the way to go but unless you hear them for yourself you would never really know.

Once again what do you mean by better?

Do you want something with better bass response? More clarity? warmer sound? darker sound? a more detailed sound?

Are you having a problem with imaging? room reflections? You give no idea as to what you mean by a "better" set up. there are several things you can try first before going and buying new speakers.

Such as speaker placement. Source, room treatments, etc before jumping and saying its always the speakers. Normally placement will be huge and if you are craming huge towers into a tiny room well your not going to get what you are looking for normally.

Geez dude - this has been like pulling teeth to get information out that would be of any use.

    Vague comments get vague/puzzled replies.

Common sense? Common sense is knowing that stating you want something "better" but not saying what you are looking for, nor lacking currently is a good question.

The term "better" is wayyy to subjective as my better could be your best, and my better could be someones worse.

The RTI are good for movies and music they are nice as well. what more can I tell you? The LSI's excel at music but once again do a good job in HT as well.

We don't know what you've heard before nor do we magically know what you want. You need to learn to post what you are looking for and then its a lot easier for people here to help you rather than just stating you want better.

There are several other speakers too that you could look at but the other problem you face is that if you are only upgrading the front L/R for HT then the center channel should also be upgraded. Timbre matching is important if you are doing a lot of movies as otherwise it will sound a bit off.

So if you are wanting the RTI line keep it all RTI, if LSI is want you want then you will also need to figure in getting a LSI center. If you went with Paradigm then keeping the front 3 at least all paradigm.

I'm fairly certain I have internal brain bleeding at this point...

At a minimum you'd need to replace all your front soundstage at once. You may be able to pull off an LSi front end for that price. As for if they're better, you've got a pair of LSi9 in your 2 channel righ, just bring them into the LR and decide for yourself.

There are plenty of other brands out there that have products in that price range (Klipsch, Energy, Definitive Technology, B&W, KEF, PSB, etc etc...). You'll have to go listen and see what you like, everyone's ears are different.

I don't know what you have for audio shops down there in Austin, but I suggest you get yourself up to a few places and listen to some other brands and see what you like. If you have a Best Buy with a Magnolia you can listen to 4 of the brands I listed above). If not, make a trip up to Dallas and hit some of the places up here.

We're not going to tell you what's better because you need to decide that for yourself. The RTi series is very competitive at their price point, but yes there are other options.

Good lord Eric - Sit and think about what you want to ask. Then open up MS Word and type it out. Run the damn spell / grammar checks and then get a friend to proof read the question. Then, only then post it here. Because it's painful to read!!

This is about par for his threads :) I'm not trying to be mean - but the clearer you are, buddy, the easier it is for folks to help.

+1 for the Rti A3s. Would be the cheapest overall option.

i don't know if 1000$ is any where near cheap for a pair of speakers!? probably for you that get 75k+ a year! But what i am trying to ask is are there better speakers for Home theater in the 1000$ price range! thats all i ask for! if lsi9's are as best as it gets then i will set them back up in the HT! if the rti a'9 or A7's where better for HT then i will get them back! all i ask is if theres better for the Buck im spending here!!! Thats all i ask for!....and yes my grammar isn't proper, but you all can get basic understandings of what im asking for!

    Ericw -

The RTi A series was designed for HT. You already have others of that line. You want smaller speakers in front. RTi A3 < $1000. Buy them.

Use the rest to modd the xo's on your LSi 9s. Be happy. Stay in school.

Thats all i ask for!....and yes my grammar isn't proper, but you all can get basic understandings of what im asking for!
Once again, we can not tell you what is the "Best" as we all like different things. Yes people can agree upon things like speaker A is normally better than speaker B but once again YOU HAVE THE SPEAKERS LISTEN TO THEM!

You seem to want us to tell you what to like. You already have LSI's and you have RTI's so why don't you just try it out to see which one you like better???

Seriously, its like asking if you like red apples or green apples better. We have no clue and if you have both in your hand then your not really doing your part in this.

I also ask please consider doing room treatments etc as well or making sure you have proper speaker placement as that will help you in the long run.

if you really want to be told what to do, then do this. send me all the money you were going to spend via paypal and I'll keep it for you. that way you don't get anything different or have the confusion of what to do with your money.

Also you keep jumping from floor standers to bookshelfs. Pick one.

Also you keep jumping between two speaker models you already own. Try them.

If you want to try others you need to either A go demo them to see if you like their overall sound, or B try to listen at someone's house sometime. You live in a far bigger city that I do and yet can't seem to listen to anything.

I make it a habit of trying to find an audio store when I go somewhere. Right now I'm going to go to one about 7 hours away from me just to see if I can listen to something and planned my trip a different route so I can go there. Takes a little bit of research but if you can't put in the time and the effort then your not going to get the reward.
