Default What is your Surround/Rear Set-up

I loved my Lsi Fx's...which I just sold, but the walls to my room (Man Room) aren't set up for the FX's, how many of you guys are using Lsi 7's, 9's or even 15's as surround's ? I've never listened to them as rears before, please give me some insight

I use the LSiFX as my sides and my LSi7s as rears.

Any of those speakers are going to make great surround speakers, but are going to be more directional than your LSiFXs were and will requre some aiming for the best sound quality. Personally, I like the fact that the FXs spread out the sound a great bit. If I had the option, I'd go for some LC65FX or LC80FX, or the LCi-RTS FX. The only downside in my room is the space taken up by the speakers, so I'd love to recover that by using in-wall or in-ceiling speakers. I just don't have 2k to throw at that right now.

I used my Fx's for rears but ddint have an option to put as sides...figured maybe I'd get some 7's or even 9's with a speaker stand and poin them toward my listening area

I just added the Axiom QS8s and I couldn't be more thrilled. I know they aren't polks, but the 4 speaker array makes for very flexible positioning, which I needed for my space.

RTi A1s as surrounds - my living room isn't that big so they do the job.

They perform very well with BluRay as well as multi-channel music. I swapped out the the FXi A4's for RTi A3's and found that the FXi A4's did a better job of filling the sound behind you and not knowing where it was coming from. Sounded like a very very wide speaker was behind you and blended better with the soundtrack.

The RTi A3's which are an awesome speaker in their own right, sounded too directional for me and not as spaced out as the FXi A4's. I could tell that they were behind me and which one was on. They were really good for mulit-channel music.

Both speakers are great, but I choose the FXi A4's to be a better surround speaker for movies and my room.
I still have the RTi A3's if I decide to go to a 7.1 set-up.

RTi4's in a current 5.1 setup. I have another pair also, but havn't gone to the 7.1 yet. I have to build stands first to place them on...but I will eventually. The 4's sound very good powered by a Pioneer SC-35 Receiver. F/S in Canada has the RTi4's on for $149 Pair.

    RTi4s - ceiling mounted.

I'm more of a music guy - 2channel mostly, but also multi-channel on occassion (BD concerts) - much prefer the sound of monopoles vs di/bipoles.

Currently use FXiA6 and FXi3's in a 7.1 surround. I have used the RTi6 and 4's before that. It takes awhile to get used to them. I kept getting up during movies to see if FX's were on. You don't hear where the sound is coming from like the 6's and 4's. However, like gfong said, they fill up the back with sound. I do like like them for music - no problem, I have set everything up for music to be 2-channel.

I do have a fairly large dedicated area - 14' x 35'. I definately prefer the FX's for movie surround.
