My point is, since you don't seem to be picking it up despite my having said it, is that having your saddle that low will blow out your knees. It's not conjecture, it's simple biomechanics. Having a saddle that low puts enourmous strain on the ligaments and tendons of the knee, which already undergoes a lot of stress. If you're lucky, you'll get no worse than a severe case of tendonitis. At worse, you'll completely tear something. I haven't experienced it myself, but I hear that tearing the ligaments that attach the quadracep is enourmously painful since the muscle will snap back up into the thigh.

And yes, I plan on being around in 27 years, barring accidents and *******s in cars. You, however, I'm not so sure about. :p

And, just to get back on topic, did 45 minutes yesterday. Last day of a rest week, so not much happening. Today, we'll have to see what the weather does.

    I don't believe it.

My knees and my legs bend. What does it matter if the crank set and pedals are at 90 degrees to the seat or Zero degrees?

Look at the picture below. If the crank set is at 0 degrees, 60 degrees or 90 to the seat when my leg is fully extended in either of those postitions how can I have more stress on my knees?

If you said I would have more stress at my hips then I might have to agree with you. I would assume that I would have less stress on my hips if the crank is at 90 degress to the seat.

Here is yesterdays workout. (Run on Easter)

Fairly long run for me. (almost 7 miles) Time was slow, but I was slow anyway and this was my first run under the 180 program. (trying to keep my HR at 140 or less - usually it is in the 160s or 170's when I am running)

Felt pretty good, but a few blisters afterwards...

Fine. I won't argue with you, as you seem either incapable or unwilling of doing basic research on the importance of fit, and the problems that an improperly fit bike can cause. Therefore, I'm not going to waste my time on it further.

For others, I'd recommend getting your bike fit properly to avoid injury. If you have any pain while riding, you're bike doesn't fit you. Get it checked.

Oh today was so nice, I wanted to ride but I was stuck in a client's house installing in-ceiling speakers and hanging his flat panel.

Pushups and pullups are the bane of my existence. It's really frustrating how much upper-body strength I've lost over the past decade.

I can do 10 regular pushups in 20 seconds right now, and after a short rest I can do 5 in a row between rests.

    :(

Same thing the last 3 days; 15 miles in about 43-47 minutes on the bike. Still bloody windy as all get out though. And I finally got my seat post to quit slipping. Love that carbon assembly compound.

It's not that hard to rebuild this. Just try to add '1' every other day or few days--even if you need to just hold your position after 10 and wait for a minute to get it out. After a few weeks you'll be pumping them out like nothing.

I lost a lot more than half of my push up strength in China last year, due to all the minor head colds I had from having to take a 4 mg dose of a cortico-steroid everyday to keep the Beijing atmosphere from flaring up my eczema (which is non-existent in the U.S. for 9 months out of 12?). I was unable to do much strength training for the first six months and fell to struggling to do 20 push-ups (a low for me as even out of shape I can usually pump out close to 50--always had decent upper body to weight strength).

I was horrified. But within a few weeks I was up to 40--even in China. And now back home--I hardly think about getting out 80 or more in one set. But I've also returned to heavier weight training which also boosts the reps.

It's all about consistency and pushing (no pun intended). And I'm no spring chicken anymore. Joints are stiff, sometimes they ache. Need to stretch out so I don't tear anything and rest more?

    Keep up the good work.

3.5 mile run last night. Still staying with the 180 program. so far have gone from my previous best of just under a 10min mile (with HR around 175 or so - max 179) to this. (all the following keeping HR in the 130's)..

1st couple runs on treadmill 14.5-15min/mile.
1st outdoor run 13.2 min / mile (for about 6.5 miles)
2nd outdoor run was last night. 3.5 miles at 12.08 min/mile

Very happy with the increases in speed and the way the run feels both during and after the run.

Still waiting for a combination of warm, dry and non-windy conditions to get the bike out more....

Just got back from hiking a 9,100' mountain.

    Feels good, man.

Wouldn't have been able to do a fraction of that mountain, had I not put myself through the slow-carb diet and the short\timed exercises starting 2 months ago.

Burpees? Oh, I see the video...that's what we used to call a squat-thrust with a push up added to it!

Don't you just love neologisms? I guess I'm getting too old.

    Carry on!

I want to go crawl back into bed myself when I see WODs like that one. Before and during these kind of WODs I'm thinking "f**k this, f**k this, f**k this...".

After the WOD, I always feel energized and feel great. Just starting the WOD is the hard part though.
