I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.
Didn't they just cut their feet out from underneath them by putting out the 2900? I'm assuming that the 5900 is the replacement of the 9000, but even so, is there that much to it that it's worth double what they just released the 2900 for?
would you guys actually pay 2 grand for a dvd/ sacd/dvda player, that is alot of money, just wondering??

Let's say the street price is about $1700. If the SACD and redbook quality are comparable to Sony XA-777ES, I think I might be tempted to spend the money...It is a big "if" though, and since I have Denon 3800, I know I will wait for awhile so that the brave souls can deal with the bugs...

The delay times can be set in SACD, an improvement over the 2900. And the xo can be altered instead of fixed at 80. And the DVI and IEEE 1394 are nice for future proofing.
The new Faroudja decoding engine might surpass the Silicon Image one in the 2900 and above? Not sure about that. The current Faroudja is inferior to the SI.
It is worth another $800 over the 2900? Not sure. Nice player, though.

I would absolutely pay 2k for that unit. My Cal was over 2k back in 99 and I still love it. You get what you pay for plus I could probably get 400 bones minimum for the Cal if I would consider a sale.
Doc, I was under the impression that the Faroudja decoding engine was top dog? You have any links tucked away?Originally posted by Dr. Spec

The current Denon SI decoder is superior to the current Denon Faroudja decoder.
The new Faroudja might be better; time will tell.

Before you start pulling up the sofa cushions looking for spare change, you might want to find out if the new Denon (or any others for that matter) are going to be SACD II compatible.

You know, if this SACD II becomes the norm and doesn't work on my XA777ES, I'm going to shove that 40lb. monster up every Sony executives a** that I hunt down!!!
And for the record, if any Sony people read this, I don't want to watch a effn video while I'm listening to my music.![]()
