    Default Monitor 10 Cabinet repair

Bought a pair of Monitor 10's off ebay ( I know, I'm hooked)
The top of one of them has a crack/hole in it. Looks like something was dropped on top of it.

Any suggestions on how to fix?

Also one of the tweeters doesnt look to good. What is the replacement tweeter for the 10's?

    TIA

You will like the monitor 10s. I have a pair and I love them.

There were more than on model of Monitor 10s. A photo would help determine which model you have and which replacement tweeter you need. If you have the sl2000 tweeter like mine had originally the replacement tweeter is the RDO-194. The sl2000 is shown in the photo below. Note the clear dome with the wire leads running in a straight line.

That is not the tweeter i have. The ones I have are all black with no wire leads.

I am getting some Rd 0194s for my SDA 1c's, can i just put my sl 2000's from those speakers in the 10's for the time being?

Sounds like you might have the sl2500. I think the RDO-198 is the correct replacement for it. Do your 10s say "Series II" on the back?

If you have the series II the sl2000 might fit the cabinet but I don't think the crossover is designed to work with that tweeter.

Well I got a little crazy and I unscrewed the tweeters. SL2500's dated 10-11-90.

I'll bet you have the series II. Do you not like the sound of the sl2500 or is defective and needs changing? The sl2500 is usually thought to sound better than the sl2000.

One of the tweeters is defective. Has a rip or two in it and the foam is half gone.

Well I hooked them up and they sound great. I can't really tell any difference with the torn tweeter and the on that is not. Hmmmmmm.....
Maybe I will just keep the grills on them and not worry about it
