    Default LSi's Destroyed

My "minty" LSi 15's showed up today. The bases are broken in half on both and every corner on the top is crushed. These beautiful speakers are ruined. First purchase off eBay, did not work so well. Have not heard back from the seller yet, I assume it is her responsibility to get them to me in good condition. Any way to rehab these things or will they be ugly forever?

Must have used ups? Were the broken pieces still in the box? Time to file a claim.

Hopefully whoever paid for the shipping bought some insurance. A claim will have to be made. Take lots of pics. These things usually take time, so you maybe out of luck for awhile.

I might just ask for a straight up refund, let the seller deal with claims.

If you paid with a CC through paypal I would already be looking to do a charge back if they don't want to deal with a refund right away , and contacting the seller how he or she wants to get these shipped back to them.. Let them deal with the insurance claim as they will have to do so anyway...

As I learned the hard way in this same situation, let the shipper handle the insurance claim. Don't try anything on your own or UPS will jam you up for weeks. As larry said, charge that crap back if you can and let the seller deal with any and everything needed.

Good luck with a claim. Were they in the original boxes? Do the boxes themselves show any physical damage? Most likely UPS will say they were not properly packed and deny the claim. Hope everything works out for you.

Uhhhg! That sounds horrific. Doesn't sound like there is anyway possible that these were packed worth a hell. If they were damaged on all corners, they had to have been banging around inside almost the whole time. Hope everything works out? Good luck!

Boxes are trashed, as was noted at the UPS store where I picked them up. Just talked to the seller ( who has a large ebay history, all positive). She is saying hold on to them and let UPS come out and look at them. They are insured for the full price of the purchase and shipping. If I want to send them back for a refund I have to ship them back to her, shipping is close to $200. If I settle out with UPS for the purchase price, I guess I have a working pair of LSi's for free. Does this make sense?

If UPS pays the claim, most likely they will want the merchandise.

The seller should refund your money now as the seller has to file the claim and the seller will receive the check from UPS, if they pay out.

They will also pay the claim to the shipper, not you.

This should not be your problem. Demand a full refund from the seller now. Let her deal with UPS as it's her responsibility to get them to you in the advertised condition. If she won't refund, start the chargeback process with your CC company to protect yourself. What boxes & materials were used to ship them? Original or something the seller threw together?

You should of refused them at the UPS store and had them shipped back. Do you know if the seller boxed/packed them or did the UPS store? Bottom line is that they were obviously not packed correctly. They should have been double boxed in double-wall heavy duty boxes.

I had to rebuild one of my cabinets as well after some shipping damage, and replaced one of the bases, so I feel your pain on this one... post some pics and if you are unable to get them returned, I can help you rebuild them. It was a pretty easy job.

Even with original boxes, full size speakers DON'T ship well.
They were really meant to ship on a pallet to the store.
I'd never ship, or buy a floor stander that wasn't local.

Peanuts and bubble wrap. You better get that refund now because UPS isn't going to cover that one.

Trust me, as myself and another member here figured out the hard way the shipper MUST be the one to file the claim. I was the shipper in the instance I refer to and once the member here received the damaged speakers and filed a claim things got MESSY. The speakers went from me in denver to LA area... then back to Denver and sat at the UPS store for weeks before either of us were enough of a thorn in their side to give any sort of money back... even when they did it wasn't the full insured amount because they weren't "packaged to UPS standards" even though they took the shipment knowing what were in the boxes and didn't say a word.

Charge that back ASAP and let them know that what they did wasn't proper packaging so any and all costs should fall on them.

Yep, packed like s@#t like I thought. No way anything should come in that bad of condition - even floorstanders. These have all the signs of being packed with inadequate materials, using too little packing materials - allowing item to bang around freely inside, and not double boxed. Get your money back and let them deal with it. It's their fault, IMO.

They CAN be rebuilt and look as good as new.... The bottom plates are available from Polk, and the cabinets can be restored using a combination of woodworking and bodyshop skills. These finishes on the speakers are as simple as a basecoat/clearcoat paintjob and a great color-sand and buff. If you have some skills, or know somebody that does, you can save them. It is a huge pain in the ass, but they are not beyond hope. PM me and I can walk you through it.

Nope! Me either. The seller is responsible for getting the item to you in the condition that was described. Don't fut around with this. Get the seller to refund you or start making calls to PayPal and/or your cc company.
