    Default Blackstone TL3s for surrounds w/ LSi9s?

Hey - would the TL3 speakers work as surrounds mounted on the wall w/ an LSi9 / C based HT setup? This for my cousin - he's been debating how to go with surrounds. LSi7s / FXs will need stands and take up space (and are more exp) - it looks like the TL3s use the same tweeter / woofers as the LSi series and seem robust enough spec wise. Sub will most likely be an Epik Legend (per my other thread).

Does this sound like a doable option? This is for a 16 x 18 room. Speakers would probably mounted behind and to the sides of the main couch. The TV / HT area is not exactly centered with the room - the entrance is an open area to the right side.

    Thanks

    - Praz

I thought about that myself. Folks scared me away from it. I'd like to see how it works out. A sound calibrating AVR should be able to blend the two different speakers.

I had an AVR and it did an incredibly job of balancing my Cerwin Vega center with my M70 fronts. I didn't notice it until I returned the AVR and went with my old one again.

If he wanted satellites for rears, the TL3 would definitely be on the top of my list. The drivers use the same technology, but they are different sizes and I would guess that they sound slightly different. It doesn't really matter as much for the rear though.

Both the 7 and FX are wall-mountable. The 7 shouldn't take up that much room on a wall and really don't protrude out too much. I don't know why he feels he would have to get stands for them. If he wants it to look smaller, its possible to remove the sides of the 7 and give them a sleeker/smaller profile, similar to the height of the LSiC. A few people have done that here and like how it turned out.

Hmmm okay thanks guys. We realized that if the rears were mounted on the walls, they'd have to be done so at odd points on the wall due to the way the HT area is positioned. ie. it's not exactly in the center of the room. So scrapping that idea - most probably will go w/ bookshelves on stands.
