    Default tom cruises career

Have always just sorta took his movies as they came along, however, if you look at a list of his movies, he has one watchable movie after another, interspersed with a couple of near great or great films.

When a movie like collateral can be in the "oh yeah i forgot about that one" category you know you are doing something right.

    wierd thread, but ok.

I don't think anybody really disputes the fact that he's been in some decent movies over the years. I believe people's issues with him are around his non-career antics, to which this post has little relevance.

Who really gives a rats ass about Charlie Sheen? I don't get the obsession that some people have with "personalities" and the turmoil they seem to create. Oh well, let me get back to "blind testing" my lot of $3000.00 power cords !!!!!!!

Maybe "Dianetics/Scientology" really works. After all they do have those Titanium/stainless steel tablets of Hubbard's Magnum Opus locked away in a New Mexico bunker? At least I think its N.M. Correct me if I'm wrong there.

You have to stretch your beliefs pretty FAR to go for this stuff (I suppose celebrity REALITY is very ELASTIC). But it seems to be working for Tom. lol

Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, & Charlie Sheen, talented crazy losers who torpedoed their own careers with idiotic behavior outside of their jobs.

Comparing Tom Cruise to Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen is ludicrous. I'm not a Cruise fan, but what he's done is clearly not on same same level of absurdity or 'illegality' as what those other two bozos have done

    Have you seen Katie Holmes?

Seriously though Cathy, could you really consider Tom Cruise's career "topedoed"? Charlie... yes. He's a sick man. Mel will probably never work again like he used to. But Tom Cruise in no way suffered for his couch antics or his crazy faith. I would hardly call him a loser.

    Default weird responses

I just happened to see a list of his movies on another site, again, never really thought about his movies until one came out.

unlike, say the coen bros., whom i eagerly anticipate.

Just because i was surprised at his body of work, has nothing to do with his personal life.

I have met the head of arthur blanks security, who used to guard presidents.

He has met cruise and kidman, she just as lovely and personable as you could hope for.

Cruise, on the other hand, was a tiny little man who had no use for anyone not famous enough.

None of this, including his scientology leanings, in my opinion, just a money making org., hence the desire for such secrecy, has anything to do with my opinion of his films.

And why anyone would drag his weirdness into it leaves me wondering, should we only comment on stars who act like good old mom and dad.

Oh yeah this is club polk, where no mundane chit chat post cant be turned into an argument or s@#t sling by a few.

Hows that for a weird post.

I've enjoyed most of his movies, including the last one: Knight and Day. His small bit in Tropic Thunder was funny.

    And Oscar-nominated

To say TC has had a successful career would be an understatement. I think, however, time as finally caught up with him and he's no longer as popular as he used to be. But that happens to every superstar in show business. His "religious belief" may have a little bit to do with his decline in his popularity, but if he puts out a good movie....no one will care, especially to moviegoers overseas.

Mel Gibson is a fantastic talent, (actor/director) that has made some very poor choices in his personal life. I feel more sorry for him than angered by his antics. Charlie Sheen caught some breaks because of his daddy, and was lucky enough to have been given 1/100th of is dad's talent... the guy is and always has been somewhat of a douchebag.

As for Tom Cruise... He is good looking and has a great agent/marketing team, but his acting skills are nowhere near great. His best acting IMHO was in "Far and Away", but other than that, every singlr part he has played has been no more of a challenge than the dorky kid he played in "Risky Business". I wait for any film he is in to come out on dvd before I see it.

Having met each of them on a few occasions, Mel is still the nicest one of the bunch, hands down.

Im OK with the actors mentioned, hell, their personal life just gives us another form of entertainment IMO..What really gets my blood boiling is when they think their political opinion is more important than the common man.

Tom, is a stereotyped actor, with a built in audiance, Its like, hey, its me Tom cruise, watch my new movie, where i run around making dumb faces, and pretty much just try to act, and look cool, as far as making good movies, A few good men, comes to mind, But, to carry a whole movie on his own,, it gets pretty redudent, as in havent we seen this before???
Not an Audiophile, just a dude who loves music, and decent gear to hear it with.
