Default Securing SDA 2B crossover boards

Last night I ventured for the 1st time to the inside of my cabinets....interesting trip to say the least. What are those plastic clips called that secure the boards? Upon removal of the crossovers I discoverd that I had missing and broken clips so I need to replace them....where can I get them? I'm hoping there is a better way to secure the boards other than what Polk originally used?

I believe you are talking about "stand offs". They can be purchased at a place like Mouser and Digikey, IIRC.

OK, next question. I'm still using the original blade/blade interconnect cable. I believe Polk still sells these...would a new one be an upgrade to the original as far as quality of materials is concerned? As far as I can tell the one I have is working as intended but if they have an improved cable then I guess it's worth it?

No, I'm pretty sure it's the same cable.

Bob you said you have SDA2B's right.
Maybe someone can answer this for us but mine are pin/blade.
Did they make both p/b and b/b in a SDA2B? And if so can the crossovers be interchanged without issue?

Yes they did and yes you can but you would need to change one driver as well.

Edit: I was thinking about CRS+'s the 2B's will have the same drivers p/b or b/b but you can still swap crossovers. The b/b 2B's will usually have a 2 piece crossover as the p/b 2B's will have the 1 piece board.

My understanding is that the early 2B's with b/B IC (1987) had the single board style crossovers like the p/B 2B's but used the 2A cabs, I believe they are the studio version. Also the stand-offs shown in the link are for a 8-32 screw hole, I think you would need ones that fit a 6-32 screw hole as the mounting holes on the stock boards are smaller.

I have had 3 sets of 2B's come through my house all had the wood caps top and bottom.

1 set had P/B with single board
1 set with B/B with single board
1 set with B/B with dual boards

All were stock looking boards with no upgrades when I got them now I'm not sure if anything had been swapped during the last 20 years or Polk using old parts up..

To sets of these did end up getting upgrades by two people that I sold them too (friends at work)

Yes 2B's with single boards. I removed the board w/o taking out the inductor(?), looks like I could have/should have removed the whole assembly as one piece?

Hello, jestwaitn. Pin/blade or blade/blade. What they are talking about is the type of interconnect cable configuration that connects the two speakers to offer you the SDA. Welcome to the forum BTW.

Just verify the crossovers were upgraded AND modified to accept the SL3000. If the owner just replaced the caps and resistors, without adding the 5.8uf cap, they haven't been "TL'd", and will not sound their best.

You'd be better off converting the old blade/blade connectors to Speakon, and making yourself a nice new cable with heavy gauge conductors. It's not that difficult, and you'll never have to worry about those connections ever again.
