When I think back on my former physics professors and former Bell Laboratories colleagues who were physicists, I can't recall any that were headstrong. They certainly were loveable in that they had quiet, humble spirits. I particularly remember my physics professors as having an uncommon degree of patience with students who had difficulty grasping some concepts.

I'd say it's people that post in old threads quoting from a different thread trying to get the last word. Your opinion may vary, but, then again, I don't care.

Hey Shane, this is not the place to learn about capacitors. You might want to wander over to the Parts Express Tech Talk site and give this thread a read.

    http://techtalk.parts-express.com/sh...d.php?t=224224

One of the posters, carlspeak (Carl), recently wrote an article in audioXpress about capacitor testing.

Wow that's harsh..............you're right we are all a bunch of putz's who have no experience with capacitors or upgrading Polk speakers or audio in general.

I certainly would never discourage anyone from getting all points of view, that's just intelligent learning, but your comment is way out of line. Just because we (as a collective) don't always align with your opinions and ideas doesn't mean someone can't learn something. Someone needs to knock you down a few notches, your head is getting too big.

I'd say it's the people that think 1 month deems a thread as old. I forgot we weren't supposed to post on threads that are on "page 2."

Jeff, I was more intrigued by the great debate about capacitors. I wanted to learn about both sides of the argument. I will check out the link nonetheless.

Let's stay on topic and keep it civil for the sake of all the parties involved. We're doing a pretty good job so far and the information is a good read from both sides.

This post is 100% pure hypocrisy. You know very well that I have been getting flamed on this forum from day one. All points of view? That's just not what happens here, at all. Furthermore, some of you (and you know who you are) would have been banned on a forum with more serious rules about poster civility.

jcandy, you get flamed cause you ignore questions people ask and act as if you are Gods gift to audio. You don't know as much as you think but if you would listen once on a while you could learn from some of he guys on here. I know I have in the last few years.

I am not going to get in a pissing match with you, but if you read your own posts you will see I am right on this. I have argued with you in the past and I have let bygones be bygones, but you come across as pompous and arrogant and guys that have been here a long time don't go for it, myself included. Although I have learned to ignore it I do get annoyed when you avoid peoples questions. Including the one you still haven't answered of mine. But that's cool. If you want to ignore it whatever, it's no skin off my back. You just loose more credibility everyday on here.

Just remember none of us are right all the time including you.

And audiocr381ve, you may want to look closely at the bedfellows you keep. The ones that know and have done what you are working on and those that talk a good game but don't back up what they say with real world use. Ask JC how those caps he's testing sound. I bet he doesn't have a clue but he will insist on telling you how your sound without even hearing them.

    Joe,

I just wanted to let you know that I have adopted a totally objective lifestyle based only on measurements and my life is now much less stressful. For example:

    1. I no longer need to taste anything because I have gotten to the point where I can read a recipe and know how something tastes. I compare the food quality at restaurants by requesting recipe lists from the head chefs.

    2. I no longer need to look at anything prior to acceptance (houses, cars, women) because I have gotten to the point where I can read a list of measurements, read a detailed written description and look at a high resolution picture and know exactly what something looks like.

    3. I no longer need to try on any clothes or shoes or hats or gloves because I know the dimensions of my body and all I need is an accurate list of dimensions for the clothing article.

    4. I no longer need to smell anything because I have gotten to the point where I can read a list of chemical composition and tell what something smells like.

    5. I no longer need to listen to anything because I can look at a list of electrical specifications and tell how something sounds.

    6. I no longer need to touch anything to know what it feels like because a detailed written sensory tactile analysis (degree of roughness, smoothness, wetness, etc.) tells me exactly what something feels like.

I feel sorry for you guys who waste so much time experiencing life by looking, touching, tasting, smelling and listening when all you need to do is read a list of specifications and know exactly the type of sensation a thing will provide.

    Such good reading.

You're the same guy that got his panties in a bunch in the thread about caps. How awesome of you to mention that you've let bygones be bygones yet you impose your opinion yet again. You call Jeff arrogant and pompous? Seriously? You fight arrogance with arrogance.

I've met Jeff, he's a solid dude. He also let me take a listen to a pair of speakers he built from scratch and they sounded awesome. What's not to trust about his opinion?

I'm not siding with anybody (I don't care enough to). I think both sides could handle things a lot better. What I don't like seeing is a bunch of babies collectively singling out one person who doesn't agree with them. That's just stupid, immature, and silly.

People of all ages use Proactiv and Axe cologne. I'm not understanding why using a medication meant to improve one's skin condition and why using a personal hygiene product meant to improve one's social acceptability could be considered bad things.

Do you consider pimples and body odor attractive?

adiiocr381ve, Now go back and reread my post. I said he comes off as pompous and arrogant. I never said he was. I have no beef with you just letting you know the deal. I am sure he is a nice guy. Oh, by the way, I got my panties in a bunch because he acted like an ass to me directly. Reread that whole thread and you will see I didn't fire the first shot at him, he did. And since I have been quite cordial, I even agreed with him on the ply vs MDF issue. So I am not out to get anyone. Just letting him know the perception people have of him. Except for you of course.

I think jcandy is a smart guy but he thinks he is the only one that knows anything. That just isn't the truth.

PS Sooner or later he will act like an ass with you, oh wait you know where he lives. Nah, he will be real nice to you.

It can be tough to keep usernames and intents totally straight when you're getting flamed left and right, en masse, for making seemingly innocuous comments. I know that in the past you've (Joe08867) offered constructive suggestions and information and I appreciate that and sincerely apologize if I was sarcastic or dismissive when perhaps you didn't deserve it.

With regard to Shane being my sole supporter, I should point out that I've received support PRIVATELY, but much less often publicly, I suspect because people here fear getting flamed just for associating with me, which is a pretty clear statement of how slanted the playing field is. You have some real bullies here and somewhat more focus on them is appropriate IMO.
