There are some serious speaker builders/rebuilders over on the Parts Express forum that've helped me out more than once, you might inquire there also. I love the old "vents", fried eggs anyone?

No matter how lost you are.......music can bring you home. (there are a few exceptions, however)
Thanks for the tip gdb, I'll take a look. I know people in this club have changed out drivers, I'm just looking for the correct materials to use for a good seal.
ahh, to seal the cabinet to be airtight?
PartsExpress sells nice stuff for that (they used to provide a hank of it when you bought a speaker from them; dunno if they still do).

(the 36" length of stuff at the bottom of the short list is what you're most likely looking for).
I initially thought you were asking about sealing/treating the foam surrounds; silly me...
all the best,

Thanks mhardy6647. I'm sorry if my question was confusing, I just want to replace the woofers and make sure they are tight.
I am listening to a pair of OLA in the bedroom system right now. I found this article by Frank van Alstine where recommends coating the inside and the speaker frames with non-hardening plasticlay.

He suggested using plasticlay as a sealant to decouple the speaker from the front baffle. I am going to try this on a pair of Monitor 5's I am about to recap.
