Thanks for the links James.I have been a fan of Dyn a long time, just wished they had'nt abandoned the DIY driver market.

btw.how can they sound any good with those dreaded Solen caps?.)

Here are some vids of how Theil builds their flagship CS3.7 amongst some other things.

    Excellent link. thanks Megasat!

I have my eyes on Confidence C-2, don't care too much with their Audience series..

Any polkies have or own Confidence series?
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

No doubt Dyna makes great DIY drivers. It's a shame they don't offer them anymore in the market for a few years now. I think I saw the Dyn drivers like 3-4 years ago.

I am somewhat intrigued by the fact that Dyna still using the coated cloth diaphragm soft dome tweeter. I know the soft dome has lowest distortion among tweeters but I hope they use some exotic Diamond Diaphragm.

And they should have used Clarity caps, hum? That would makes things much clearer. Solen just swollen sometimes.

Thiel makes a hell of nice speakers in the small shop and expertly hand assembled.

I am hoping the LSiM 707 offers similar SQ like the Dynaudio Cofidence Master.

Then, $4000 would be a steal for them.

If you sit down and listen to any pair of Dynaudio speakers , you will come to realize they know exactly what they are doing in the tweeter department. Dynaudio's top end is silky smooth and clear. Realism is a great term to use to describe their ability to reply sound. I never heard any Dynaudio speaker I felt the top end needed any kind of work.

Now if the LSIM's could even scratch the surface of the Confidence Master it would be a day made in history for speaker building. I'm sure polk did a fantastic job on the new LSIM series(I'm so needing to hear them) and I'm willing to be they will out class the current LSi offerings. But I'm not going to hold by breath.

Polk is one of my all time very favorite speaker companies for so many reasons but in my opinion nothing polk made or makes can compete with anything Dynaudio made or makes. It's just 2 very different worlds of speakers. Both have a rock solid place in this replay world just not side by side.

I have used the Confidence C1 with active crossover (1st/1st order @ 80) and dual subs for about 5 - 6 years. Have listened to a couple of the other top "monitor" speakers and have not heard any reason to switch. These are everything (and more) the reviews state. At one time I was also thinking of moving to the C2, but I have not heard these yet so am hesitant in moving to an unknown speaker. Heard the C4, but these are too big for my room.

One day I would like to hear the "Evidence" Master or Temptation speakers as these are the series above the "Confidence" series.

Dynaudio has not supplied the DIY market for about 8 - 9 years now. Some other manufacturers still use some of the older generation Dynaudio drivers in their speakers. Current generation drivers are only available in Dynaudio manufactured speakers.

I wouldn't call the Dyne speakers lacking in the tweeter department. But I wonder if one compares the top of the Dyne such as Confidence Master to the Focal Utopia, the difference in the tweeter can be heard? It's not to say which is better than the other. But some people (myself included) do like with a little sharper tweeter. Sharper tweeter is not bright tweeter.

It's where I found LSi a bit lacking. You can listen to LSi at very high volume all day long without any listener fatigue whatsoever, but I think the tweeter could be a bit sharper than it is.

I like Silk Dome Tweeters. They are very nice in terms of SQ and distortion numbers. But moving air quicker, the silk dome is not the smoothest and quickest tweeter yet. But I am sure it'll blends in perfectly in the Dynaudio.

I got more interested in the LSiM 707 as the official release should be anytime now. I hope Polk offers early adopters discount for Polkies.
