Identify Speakers

Im sure this gets asked plenty but I need help positively identifying some speakers I just acquired. I think I have it but just wanted some confirmation.

First I picked up all 5 for $10. I was not expecting much and when I did pick them up, the floor speakers did look quite rough. The coating that is on the front of the cabinet was pealing and the rest of the cabinet was dusty and speckled with paint. I removed the coating and found that the cabinets cleaned up really well. My plan is to lightly sand then paint the face.

The bookself speakers look great and are just a bit dusty. All the speakers sound great. There are no feet on the bookshelf or standing speakers but the center does have 4 rubber feet. None of the speakers have labeling.

Bookshelf height is 11", width is 6-5/8". depth 9". Has the Power Port / mounting point on back. Driver 5-1/4" ( Thinking of RT25 )

Floors height 21-1/8, width 9-1/2", depth 12-1/8". Power Port. Two sets of terminals. Drivers 6-1/2" (Thinking RT55 )

I think I have floor and bookshelf identified correctly. Not sure about the Center. Im wondering if this was maybe sold as a package deal so if I can located that I can identify the center or maybe somebody already knows what center would have been typical with this package.

In addition any recommendations on finishing the fronts of the floor cabinets would be appreciated. Also one floor is missing one jumper that binds the two positive terminals. Anyplace to purchase a set ?

Small ones are RT25i

Hello and good morning. Congratulations on your recent purchase. The one on the right looks to be from the ol' RT series speaker lineup. It looks exactly like the bookshelf version of my first Polk speaker, the RT-800. As far as the binding post, you can order them from Polk CS on Monday. Call them, don't e-mail for faster results.

They are RT25 and RT55 They are not the i version, you can tell by the color of the cones on the drivers..

Thanks.. I think these are both RTXX and not RTXXi. The reason I say this is because all the photos I have found of the RT25 and RT55 have the black woofer while the RT25i and RT55i have the blue.

Thanks Treitz3... Glad I can order that part. I have a piece of wire doing the job right now and although it works I cannot see it... it still bothers me :)

Any idea on this center ? I have not been able to narrow this one down. Enclosure is sealed (no port). It has posts on the enclosure and holes in the grill for mounting as opposed to holes in the enclosure and post on the grill.

They are RT25 and RT55 They are not the i version, you can tell by the color of the cones on the drivers..

Well I said all the speakers sounded great but I had not actually listened to the center channel. Hooked it up tonight to test it and nothing but tweeter. Checked wiring inside and its all good. Removed each woofer and tried to play them directly and both just crackle. I can push in on the cone and make it start playing so to me that sounds like the coils ?? Not matter.. they are toast.

So rather than replace the woofers I think I will just look for another center channel. Which would be a suitable choice to go with the RT55 and RT25 speakers ? I would like to get one that looks like it goes with these speakers but that is not a must. It would nice if there is one with a mounting bracket for suspending from the ceiling. Right now my current center is suspender from the inside of our bay type window.. its a little over a foot deep and this puts the center about 2 feet above the TV but angled down towards listening.

I've had both and it's definitely not one of those due to the cabinet being angled, it looks like a cs150 or cs200 to me.

Rather than start a new thread hopefully someone will see this...

I have the option of buying a CS400i locally for $100 or a CS10 from Amazon with warranty for $79. Which would you recommend ?

If this is meant to go with the 55s, the 400i would be my choice if it is fully functional. Way more speaker than the CS10 is. Make sure you have room for the 400 though, as it is pretty thick from top to bottom.

The 400 is a no brainer at that price. That being said, I preferred the 300 over the 400 in that series, it was less 'chesty' and dialog was much clearer, and more pronounced with the smaller woofers. Good luck finding one though.

Yes its for the 55s. Im going for the 400 then and just waiting on the seller to respond. I made sure it was clear that he would have to demonstrate that its operational.
