    Default Moving forward.....

Bob Carver is rehashing his old days and having great fun and Nelson Pass is moving forward after having spent six figures on a special run of Jfets from Semi-South to start using them in an new sub-line of amplifiers. SIT Jfets.

If you are at all interested in here's an article. I can't wait to hear about the prototype once it's finally released.

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass

Very interesting! NP finally outdone everyone with these SiT.

I hope it's worth it and I am keeping my eyes on the production release.

It is interesting to see a little window into how a designer goes about tinkering with new idea's and the process, etc.

I am anxiously awaiting some kind of feedback about the design and sound signature. This article is why I can never, ever understand how people can say all amplifiers sound the same.

much higher current (30A) and the same sorts of voltages (1000V). SiC is horrifically expensive but offers a better characteristic.

Dear lord... 30Amp and still mathematically look like triodes single ended. I wonder how many watts Class A NP will squeeze out of these.

For him it's never been about pure wattage, but it's been about linearity and simple circuits. But from the little I've gleened about these Static Induction Transistor Jfets and their use in radar units, these sure look interesting and may provide some extra 'oomph' in a smaller package.

We'll just have to wait and see what he comes up with. I did find this quote amusing and promising at the same time.

"When my partners heard the result, the response was along the lines of "We need to find a way to bottle this!-np"

I don't think you get into that kind of silicon with that rated current handling and temperature tolerance that doesn't look like it will affect the circuit impedance without considering a either a high(er) wattage Class A only or heavily biased A A/AB design.

I'm sure it will be out of my price range however.
