    Default Pioneer SC-27

Looking at this AVR. For those that have this, I would appreciate any comments that would help me pull or not pull the trigger. I found one on ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_1388wt_665

Has anyone purchased from the seller or know anything about them?

    TIA

I have the SC-25, and love it. It sounds great, and unless your planning to step up to 3D anytime soon should be a long lasting unit with as many features it has. I can't speak for that seller, but I had a great expereience with this one, and if you don't mind a refurb, its a great deal. - http://unitedonlineshopping.com/pielsc71resc.html

I've had my eye on the 35 for a while now. I heard the new SC models coming out won't have ICE amps.

If you need a reason not to buy this then consider going the route of a pre and amp combo .

It looks to me like Pioneer is keeping the ICE amps. This is what really sets them apart from the others.

When do you think that most AVRs will come with some kind of D-amps? Pioneer has ICE, Onkyo has the A9555 integrated which is a D. Sony had a D years ago!

What's holding up the move? It seems like many of the problems have been pretty much resolved, Dan?

Looks like upgrades to VSX line keeping the SC....they upgraded the 1020 to the 1021 which use to be 1019....then are going to compete with Onkyo 9.1/.2 ....these wont have ice...no room

Thats a completely fair(steal) price for a SC-37. It's a good price for any SC model. Owning a SC model for less then retail is very nice. Full retail they are worth.

That is a crazy price for the 37. I got mine on Audioholics for just over that, but I just looked and see they are back up to retail.

If you are still interested, look on overstock.com - I'm not sure about posting prices, but go there and search pioneer sc-35. Crazy low price. I just bought a new receiver or I'd be all over this thing

I give a second vote of confidence to getting an SC refurbed from unitedshoppingonline.com; if you call them, they can usually swing a better deal than what they have listed on their ebay store. Ended up getting my SC25 for just a bit over $600. Great sounding receiver and lots of features, only draw back is lack of video processing options (as in there are none, passes video straight through.)

why would this be a draw back? btw that is not completely accurate it will pass hdmi (1080) untouched, but if you connect via regular video, svideo it will upscale the video.

I should have said "potential" draw back, but it hasnt been a problem for me at all. And you are correct that it will upscale non hdmi sources, I overlooked that as I hadnt hooked up any non hdmi video sources to it. Overall though, I think it does everything I need it for extremely well.

I recently got a new SC35 from United Online for $899. They cut me a deal because the refurbished SC35 I ordered was back-ordered for 3 weeks.

You are in for a treat with the SC-35.

I'm I little worried about Pioneer lowering their quality with the changes coming this year.

I'm not sure if the reported loss of ICE amps is going to be a good thing.
