    Default Speakers keep failing

I love POLK speakers for our community pool. We have 2 pair, but every year I lose a pair- not operable and have to replace them. they are mounted out doors and take alot of abuse heat, sun etc. receiver has A/B channels and use setting. I dont want to invest big bucks-pool breakin potential. What is a good reciver/amp for these speakers?

Failing, cooked voice coils? define failing. Maybe being run too loud with a cheap. distortion filled amp(receiver)? That's the fastest way I know to kill speakers

Should have 55's or 65's. You or somebody else might be tring to get 12" woofer sound out of them. The 45's are back ground-easy listing size for my tastes. I've heard the 55's and they can get loud but for a pool party, I don't know. The 45's and bigger should play fine for good listening levels. I can't imagine them failing without the volume being turned up beyond their capabilities.

Cerwin vegas for parties. Polk for quality sound.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies . I am glad to be a part of a select group that tries to take our auditory and visual senses to a higher level: we EXPERIENCE them.... GOT SDA?...GOT SUNFIRE? ...GOT Maggies?

We've had Cerwin Vegas at our community pool for going on 4 years. The lifeguards like to really crank it at times and the CW are going strong.

Once upon a time Sherwood was a good product but to the best of my understanding they are now the Fisher,Scott, etc of the nineties. Wouldn't turn volume knob up past 11:00 to avoid getting into the "Distortion Zone" Also keep your tone controls within a few dB of neutral. You are probably trying to pump in low end which just sucks the amp dry and thus causes distortion as well.

Doesn't polk make a sub 10 atrium subwoofer? Maybe you won't lean on the volume so much if you can fill out the low end with an independent sub? Might be worth a try...

My bad, they are JBL and driven with a Crown amp.

Yeah, I bet the Sherwood is the culprit here. From the ones I've seen, They look no better than a unit from a HTIB.
