Default Which has the highest current?

Looking for a high current amp for my A9's for HT.

Choices are Adcom 5500, Adcom 555 II, or Parasound HCA-2200.

I'm looking for the best delivery for current. I own the 5802 for 2 channel and this is just for HT with some music. 95/5

I know the problems with the 5500, so thats fine, its just which is going to give me the best current as I couldn't find any specs on Adcoms only the Parasound.

One of the highest I've found on mass production amps is B&K 200 watt monoblock amps - 150amps P-P! (if you can find 'em)
The Parasound your looking at is no slouch either at 90, and B&K 200 watt stereo amps are 75. Don't know the Adcoms specs?

What problems with the 5500 are you talking about? All 3 choices are about the same in real world power and current delivery and will amply power the 9's.

I think any of the Adcoms would be fine for your requirements. The 5802 or the 5800 would be my choice but the 555s and 55IIs are readily available and cost less. I've had a 5800 for maybe 14yrs and it's a fine amp. You already know about the very fine 5802.

Which B&K monoblocs are you referring to?

Sorry I was doing the research late at night and was a little tired. I was thinking the 5500 was the one that had the leaky caps or whatever problem it was the plagued some adcoms.

I just didn't know which one claims to have a higher current delivery as I could find it easily on the Parasound but nothing besides "high current design" on the adcoms and was wondering if anyone knew what the number really was.

The models with leaky caps were the 565 and 585 and then not all of them developed that problem. You are good to go with the Adcom or since you own Adcom already, try a different brand if that floats your boat.

Does anyone then know what is a fairprice for that parasound (HCA2200)? I like Adcom but like ya said Brock I could try something different.

What is your price range? Check out www.audioclassics.com and price out a used Macintosh amp. BTW, my amp is now worth $300 more used than it was worth new 4 yrs ago. See how many other products do that. You want current, that's current!! Let alone they have hundreds of fully reconditioned top shelf products to choose from. Adcom is a great middle of the road amp, but it won't compete with Mac (even a 20-30 yr old model!!) I know, I use one for my surround. BTW it blew its 2 center channels and its a PIA to access the fuses. Stupid design. That may be all it is. Bought it used at Audio Classics 4 yrs ago for surround duty for $200!
