Default Will Monitors work as surrounds for rti fronts?

Just adding on to a thread I started yesterday...

    I'm upgrading my 7.1 rm6750 surround speakers.

My new F/L speakers are rti4's and the center is an rtiA4.

I was planning on keeping the rm6750's surrounds... but now I'm thinking I might only keep the rm6750's for my rear surrounds and purchases some Monitor 30's and put them as the R/L surrounds.

Will this work ok? Will I notice a huge tonal difference since the Monitor 30's aren't part of the rti line?

    Thoughts? Suggestions? Approvals?

Should work perfectly fine as surrounds. Timbre matching isn't as important for surrounds as it is the front. Any difference in tonality should be minimal.

Any surround is fine really. The amount of sound coming out of them is not that great it is mainly for ambient sounds. Now if you listen to a lot of multichannel music then I would match them.

Would look at a sub or maybe a new piece of electronics. They will improve the overall sound a lot more than upgraded surrounds.

    I have a 12" Energy Sub....

So are you saying that there will be relatively little benefit in changing out the L/R surrounds from the smaller rm6750's for Monitor 30's?

If that is indeed the case... I might stop looking! ;-)

No. The larger M30s will most definitely give you a bit more sound back there and cross over more seamlessly at a lower frequency to your sub than the smaller satellites!

You're getting to 100 posts in a lame way. If you aren't here to add to the forum and only to sell things, well.... Good luck.
