Default new guy with vintage monitor 12's

    Hello all!
I am new here and I just bought a set of monitor series 12 22846. there are isophase crossovers with silver coil dome (tweeters ?) mounted on the top of the cabinets. Can anyone tell me anything about them? What are they worth, are there any special hook up instructions? What kind of power do I need to bring these speakers to life?

    Thanks melmman

The best thing to do to identify these would be to post pics with the grills removed.

The RTA 12's have the tweeter along with a crossover mounted on top of the cabinet. Do a search here on CP, especially for posts by geppy1 - he's the resident expert on these.

Also, geoff727 did a total rebuild of the x-overs with many great pics and text. Even if you elect not to do these upgrades you'll have a better understanding of what you have if you read this. I did all of them and the improvement is worthwhile.

I bought mine new in Aug 1984, and the owner's manual states 20-500 watts per channel. I'm powering them with a Carver TFM 42 (375 wpc) and they really sing!

    Welcome to CP!
