My brother needs Microsoft Word installed quickly to fill out an employment form. Does anyone know a legit site where he can purchase just Word for download? Does anyone know if download-review.com is a legit site?

If he has time or availability, the local library or unemployment office may have computers available just for that purpose. Make a few phone calls and you may come up with something.
Microsoft website?
How about open office. http://www.openoffice.org/
It's free and works like office 98% or so.

ZD.net has a downloadable (sp?) Microsoft Word 2010.

60 day FREE trial, fully functional.
$279.95 AFTER 60 days.
Have your brother download it from there.
If he still likes it AFTER 60 days, he can buy it.
That openoffice is pretty darn cool. I use it, and it's fully functional.
If Dragon's brother is needing to get that employment app filled out quickly in Word format,
though, I'd suggest the Word download.
He can always download OpenOffice later after he 'tries out' Word if he wants.

Usually right, but sometimes not entirely factually correct.
Shifting to Plan B
He received a Word doc from the employer that he needs to edit with his info.
To address some ?'s
He thinks he got a 60 day trial with his computer which expired...not sure he can do that again. He's currently employed and the form is very lengthy so he can't go somewhere else and do it. He doesn't want to spend $279 or whatever Microsoft wants for it. Anybody know about that download-review site? They have the Word only download for $40 if it's legit.

Open office should do the trick.
The Word download for $40 is, IMO, almost guaranteed to be bogus.
Assuming he has high-speed internet access of some sort, it's a relatively quick download for Word.
D/L it, if it doesn't work, you're out nothing.
The only thing about OpenOffice (which is awesome) is that if your brother is under the gun to get this done quick, I'd hate for him to run into the "Do You Wish to Save This Document In XXX form ? Some formatting may be lost" warning and than have his application come out looking like it was written in Sanskrit.
In any event, good luck !

My daughter needed word for an online class and open office worked great.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.
Do the 60 day trial again. I have a friend who kept re-installing the free trial for his entire undergrad career. Now, I don't recommend doing that, but it should still work out for him just fine.![]()

OK thanks everybody. I'll audition open office and if that doesn't do it I'll tell him to download the trial.
