    Default LsiC bad speaker?

    OK Forum,

i know the buzz is all the LSim line up, but i saw a post on there that said "finally a real center channel" not verbatim btw.

I have to ask, is there something wrong with the LSIc? is it not worth the money?

frankly the lsim are out of my price range for quite sometime to come. but it is fair to say in 2-3 years i can have a line up of lis 15, lsi9 and c and sub. plus all the necessary power to feed them.

but, if the lsic is that bad, could it be possible to put in the lsimC with the other lsi speakers?

i really want to know the lsic woes.

please and thank you for your advice.

Who said the LSiC is bad? There's nothing inherently wrong with it in any way. You're taking the comment out of context.

If there's anyone who has an LSiC speaker and feels it's bad, I will be more than willing to take it off their hands. I'll pay for shipping, too.

Esreuter, it's kind of like talking about a Bugatti Veyron 16.4.
You may not be aware of this but it doesn't come with an cigarette lighter or ashtray ? It doesn't.
    So, technically, it's "Missing Something".
But you know what ? It's a heck of a car.
(That ashtray thing has kept me from buying one )

    Even though it's "missing something".

Same thing for the LSiC and, for that matter, ANY speaker no matter what the price.
They're "missing something", ie, NONE are "perfect".

But when you get to the LSiC level, you have to dig pretty deep with a prettybig shovel to find that "missing thing". And when you find it, you'd probably find that the "missing thing" is pretty irrelevant.

In other words: Be happy with your LSi plan.
Anybody tells you that they're "bad" is an idiot. I mean that in a positve way.

P.S. If anybody has a Bugatti Veyron 16.4. that they're not happy with, I'll take that off their hands, too. Same deal. I'll pay shipping.

Whoever told you that LSiC is a bad speaker needs the mouth flushed with Listerine and have the ear canals cleansed.

Personal hygiene is usually the root cause of bad speaker evaluations and a deterrent to enjoy a good sound.

If it doesn't fix his / her LSiC opinion, that person needs to go out and buy an amp, a good AVR and some nice speaker wire.

If it still sounds suck with the new amp, preamp and speaker wire, the owner of the said LSiC speaker is highly encouraged to ship it to MrBigBlueLight on shipping charges prepaid and go to brainwash academy to get memory erased that he ever owned one LSiC.

    fair fair.

i should have been clear in my question really. i wasent meaning to call the lsic a pile a crap.

i was more seeking the short comings. i like the car example, thats why i ask you guys, i respect your opinions versus just looking at something in its dollar amounts.

the emotion stirred in this thread kinda reminds me of the family guy episode, with cutting in line with Italians.

whoa, aaaaaa, whoa, hey whoa, aaa, hey capernicus why dont you navigate your self to the back of the line and move there with your shirt.

sorry to have disturbed you all, your insight is always valuable. i will continue with my plan and i am stoked for the day i can hook em up.

I have zero regrets from buying my LSiC.

The OEM crossover components are the only place you get "short-changed" in the LSiC. For those who have the current LSi line and don't have the funds to go with the new lineup, crossover upgrades will get you pretty darn close without killing your wallet. Upgrade them (along with the crossovers in the rest of your front-stage) and you've got a speaker that contends with the new LSiM line in terms of depth and clarity, not to mention the LSiC has a smaller footprint to deal with (in comparison to the 706c; the 704c is pretty similar in size), and what's not to love about the gorgeous gloss-black finish?

I agree with what has already been said. I'm very happy with my LSiC have no intention of replacing it.

P.S. If anyone has a Tesla Roadster that they're not happy with, I will take it off their hands. I will be happy to cover the cost of shipping.

For the price of the LSIC,and it being timbre matched to the
rest of the LSI line, its hard to be critical of its performance.
BLUEFOX another member of this forum up-graded to a PSB Synchrony ONE C
center. He said it was good timbre match to his LSI15's. He also said that the PSB center really out performed the LSIC. Only problem for me
is the cost of the up-grade. The PSB center speaker is $2000 dollars.
Even the PSB synchrony Two C is $ 1300 dollars. Are the LSIM centers
a good timbre match to the LSI line? The LSIM centers are $ 700 & $ 1100
dollars each. Will there be that much of a performace increase to
    justify the increased cost?

    Esreuter,

Noone has mentioned it, but when the LSiC first popped on the scene, (years ago) there was alot of talk that the cascaded crossover design left the speaker feeling unbalanced. This was felt most by those that played without grills and noticed less bass coming from one of the mid-woofs. This was enough of a concern to cause a few here on CP to use a LSi9 for their center duties instead of the C.

Somewhat trivial and maybe petty, but sound is subjective and some thought this made for a poor design.

That makes absolutely no sense; the LSi9's use a cascaded crossover just like the LSiC does. That means the 9's would have the same so-called "issue" as the C.

It never was as pronounced on the 9s as it was on the C. It was the horizontal placement that made it easier to notice. I don't ever recall a post concerning the 9s about the imbalance, but can remember responding to quite a few posts over the C having the "perceived problem".

I personally never had an issue with it as I run LSis and enjoy them a lot. In fact I'm looking for a LSiC for my HT as I have been running a CS350LS for my real center.

    Dennis,

The Cascaded Crossover in LSiC is no issue to how it sounds. With or without the Grille, I think the sound is balanced and no lobing due to the bass driver and mid-range driver. I don't think it's a weakness of LSiC in anyway. But the problem most people experience is that LSiC is not as loud as the other LSi speakers. You just need to give plenty of power to it and runs hot from your AVR menu.

Besides, it's supposed to be center channel speaker so no one is supposed to be staring at it during the movie.
