    Default Amp question...

Been thinking again of what could be my next BIG purchase for my H/T and I've come to the conclusion that I think I'm going to purchase a amp. My question is, keeping in the back of my mind, somewhere down the road I want to go the full LSi line, so I will need a amp that will drive a 4 ohm load. Also, I would like to purchase a line that also down the road I can purchase a pre/pro so I would like to keep it the same line, kinda anal like that. For now I have $2500 to blow on a amp. Anyone have any recommendations. Thanks.

You may want to do a search also Grimster, that subject has been raped, :)

I would mention Parasound as a newly discovered strong performer. The amps are dynamic and powerful, plus they carry a 10 year warranty. Large transformers, large caps, separate power supplies....a well designed amp in reviews. John Curl is the designer.

You will get the usual recommendations like NAD/ Rotel/ B&K/ Outlaw which are as always, great choices.

Krell and Classe make some really nice stuff. Just way out of most of our price range, kinda like looking at Jaguars on a Chevy budget.:)

Plenty of good amps out there. Think used as a way of getting more for less. A good place to look is www.audiogon.com

I second the Parsound recommendation. The classic line has the HCA 2205 in your price range. Checkout their Halo line, it's their premium line. Checkout the A 51 or the A 52. Imagine running 5 JC-1, that would be AWESOME!
    We're talking 5X amps right?

Why wait? Get them both now! I may be wrong but for $2500 you could probably get a Rotel RSP 1066 and one of their 5 channel amps. Check Audiogon for used ones and you should have no problems getting those within your budget.

    Don't miss odyssey audio's Stratos.

    4.98/5 from 107 reviews!

And they cost around $1000 new / 600-800 used. You can even buy a pre-pro now with the change you get.

This is a giant killer amp.

i agree with the good DR. Adcom makes some very powerful and several different amps for extra power that you will need. I have NEVER clipped mine. it's freaking huge and heavy. and gets pretty warm to the touch. it's a big phat amp with only 125wpc. but it cranks out the wattage into my cottage. :D

    Grimster,
I'll echo the above question, how many channels are you looking to buy? 2? 5? 7?
