Been using it for a few years now and love it. Never use it enough to pay for the subscription but the one downfall I find with it is that whatever format the music comes in, it plays strictly stereo and doesn't allow the subwoofer to work. I swear I have tried everything under the sun to change that but someone please chime in and fix my ignorance if it's something I'm doing wrong.

....for background music it is AWESOME. Gives you great ideas for your own playlist from your collection. The way radio sSHOULD be....tailored to your likes. Opens a whole new field of advertisement.......SHORT but sweet. Cornier the better....SHORTER and SWEETER counts.
Got it playing "Symphonic Metal" on my iTouch right now.

Great for background music or through the headphones at work. I use it with the ipod dock a lot working in the garage. One issue is that for some artist or genres there is a limited song count and you can keep circling back to the same song. However, that helps you get unstuck and on to something new.

Been using Pandora off my laptop for a while.
Grooveshark? Pandora?
If you're under 30 it's Grooveshark--it's cooler and your 'young'.
If you're over 40...you don't 'care' and Pandora is good enough. lol
Enjoy your youth.

The feature that sets Grooveshark apart from Pandora is the ability to search for songs and play them instantly. GS also has the radio feature similar to Pandora's.
With GS you get the best of both worlds IMHO. Unfortunately GS cannot be streamed through Squeezebox AFAIK.
Yeah Grooveshark is almost identical to Pandora except you can chose whatever song you want, fast forward, make your own playlist - you can also do the radio feature where it finds artist similar to the first one you enter and you can plug other songs and artist in at any time and you can eventually get a nice diverse radio mix

I finally signed up for the paid pandora at the beginning of the year after using it off an on for several years. Definitely worth it since 1. you get much better sound quality over a computer with wifi 2. you can skip more songs and 3. no commercials. Unfortunately the improved sq doesn't transfer over to streaming devices like the squeezebox.
Oh wow, I have never even tried the radio feature. I had no idea that's what it is. That is tremendously cool!!

i like to stream 80's music on Pandora.. i think I listen to it maybe 10 hours a week or so.. I enjoy it.

Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert
Grooveshark is banned at work, so Pandora wins the prize for me. I probably listen 60-80 hours a month so I went ahead and bought the year sub. Well worth it to me, though I'd still like to have had more control than they give you with the sub.
Still, I'm pleased for work tunes....and something I can stream on my Samsung Charge as well.

rooftop,
I am getting setup to use a Sonos wireless streaming system, and one of the things I've been researching is different internet radio stations and focusing on the ones that stream higher quality, but you're saying you don't notice a difference of quality with the higher bit quantity?
Unfortunately the improved sq doesn't transfer over to streaming devices like the squeezebox.
..... ><////(*>
No, I am saying that when using anything other than a pc or laptop and wifi, pandora doesn't stream in 192 kbps but in 128 kbps. So I don't listen to it on my squeezebox very often because of the SQ, but I do listen at work all the time when I am on my computer and do appreciate the improved SQ.
Thanks for the input. I am not familiar with how these work since it's getting delivered Friday, but I'll know more when I get it in my hands.

Grooveshark is good if you want A song, Pandora is good if you want to listen to a type of song or a band and similar bands to that genre, I use both.
Been using it for years as well welcome to pandora!
