SC-37 and Panny ARC

So I've got a 50" Panny VT20

I've only found a couple of times that it was useful that the TV connected to the web - generally for YouTube stuff.

The thing I've run into is that I am not getting any audio to the SC-37. I generally either turn on the TV speakers temporarily, or just go upstairs and use the actual computer.

Am I incorrect to think that if I turn the receiver onto TV, that the ARC should contain the sound I am looking for?

** Just double checked how everyhing is hooked up. I've got DISH into TV/Sat, everything else is to their dedicated inputs, and I'm using the OUT1 to the TV. Should I have something connected differently, or how does one actually get sound from the TV to the receiver? Seems counter-intuitive to have an ARC channel on the TV, when I'm using the output on the receiver.

Not that this is a make or break challenge in life for me being less than 1% of my TV viewing, just another curiosity I had. Slow day at work if you hadn't noticed by both of my threads for the day.

If I understand you correctly, you want to turn your TV and have the TV audio processed through the SC 37? If so, the Panasonic needs to be plugged in at the SC 37's HDMI marked SAT (for Satellite) then Panasonic setup needs to be told NOT to use it's audio and the SC 37 should be tuned to SAT when you want to watch TV.

First question is Do you have a 1.4 HDMI cable with Audio return channel?

That's a good question - I've got a few random HDMI's, and I picked up a 2-pack of Insignia cables since I wanted them NOW. I would assume they are 1.4, but I can't be 100% sure. (I just checked the website, and there is no indication either way)

Let's just say I do in fact have 1.4 (eventually once I get my new stand, I'll be running some cable management and replacing all cables and speaker wires). I'm assuming I would need to have the TV HDMI to SC-37 TV HDMI, and I will have to call my Dish something else? Not the end of the world since I can rename something else. Just works so nice that there is a TV/SAT input, and a button to correspond with it.

I guess I could always run the Dish box to my TV, and the TV to the AVR, but then I'm just setting myself up to have to change inputs on the TV (instead of treating it as a monitor)

That about sum it up, or someone have another idea/option for me?

Problem is, it's pretty vague. More or less one of those "If you want sound from your T, connect your TV to the receiver via one of 3 connections" type of answers.

It sounds like in order for it to work as I want it (Full AVR control, only thing the TV does is turns on and off) - I would need to utilize 2 of the HDMI ports.

First connection would be as I have it now. All video connected via HDMI to the receiver, and using the HDMI OUT on the receiver to the TV.

Second connection I would need to add would be TV HDMI ARC to receiver assignable input (which would add sound)

^^ That just seems wrong now that I've typed it out. I don't know that I can duplicate the HDMI's like the Oppo for example, where you'd have 2 HDMI's performing the same function. I guess I don't know how the "web" content of the TV really works, since it's more of a menu than an input selection. Maybe the above scenerio would work. How do you all have your stuff hooked up? I've got it all working, minus TV sound. Can the HDMI Out receive the ARC? Guessing not, but that's where I get stuck. Would I need to change the input on the TV, just for ARC purposes to direct it to an INPUT on the receiver when I need to hear the TV directly?
