I like Blade Runner, and have the remastered Buuray. Time will tell if this is a good idea. It can suck, or be at the Batman Begins level, or higher if we are lucky.

Ridley Scott is at the helm, so my money is on him to deliver.

Love Sci-Fi. The mention of a new possible prequel to the Alien Series is exciting also. Here is a link with a little information. Title is Prometheus.

I hope you are correct Mike and he does deliver. It would be a great prequel or continuation if it turns out good by being well written, well directed, have a great soundtrack (as the first one) and great acting.

This does have a high let-down potential. Regardless, I expect polarized fans on this.

Pretty sure most under the age of 32 haven't even heard of Blade Runner. I loved it as a kid, but saw it on TV the other day and it was cheesy as hell with those effects.

Well, thank goodness we won't be seeing any nonsensical, 10,000 word essays on it here.

And besides, I like to see movies for myself and formulate my own opinion.

Sounds like a long wait, The 1st one was state of the art, when it came out,, Back then the effects were as good as it got, nowadays whole movies are computer generated effects, I read 90% of the last 3 star wars movies were all computer effects, at least back then, you could spot a special effect,, now the whole movies are effects, makes it look so flawless, you can tell its faked.

I am 26 and own the blu-ray set. My friends and I have all heard of it, and most of us have seen it. It probably doesn't mean as much to us as it did to you when you first saw it. After having watched it for the first time only a year or two ago, I didn't think it was anything special. Some things lose their appeal over time.

I'll probably be in the minority of those who will love the new one, simply for the fact that it will be current with visual effects/audio. It will likely grab my attention easier.

Maybe...just maybe....this will be one of the very few remakes / sequels / prequels that come out and becomes a classic, like the original.

Too bad they couldn't do a movie that still uses miniatures and mock-ups with sparing use of green screens, but with modern special effects design. I'm sure it would be prohibitively expensive, but it would be nice to have a movie that doesn't scream CGI in every action frame. Part of the dated look of movies like Blade Runner is what 80s audiences thought the future would look like.
