    Default New 3.1TL

Well, I finally set up my new to me 3.1TL that I traded a buddy for my old Martin Logan SL3. Prior to that I had a fully upgraded 1C's that were awesome. The Martin Logans never got me the same as the 1C 's sweet spot did, so when my buddy asked if I wanted to trade for his 3.1TL I was all over them. So here is what I got from him for my Martin Logan: I got an upgraded pair of 3.1TL with SonicCraft and mills with RDO 198 no other upgrades(but I got a set of Larry's rings to install already and Dynamat along with some beefed up spikes) he also gave me a Yamaha M-80(which I had totally refurbished by Skip at Legendary amps) all this for my mediocre ML SL3
I am running my newly ref. M-80 with a Denon DAP-2500(have a sony 1000 ESD brand new had only been used by my dad once 20 years ago and then stored, but I don't like it as much as I like the Denon DAP) For source I am using an Imerge S3000 and My old trusty Alesis Adat XT-8.
Now, here are my layman comparison of the 3.1TL with the rdo 198 vs 1c with rdo 194. First, the low end is more define and accurate without a rollover feeling i had with 1c. The soundstaging is wider and crispier. Biggest thing I don't miss is the lack of "nasally Swooshiness" on female and male singers that bother me on the sl2000 and rdo194(even less noticeable than sl2000 but still there), the rdo 198 are smooth Yeahhhhh no more swoshinesssss. So far I am reaching a very happy spot for my 2 channel listening. Can't wait to get going on Larry's rings and the Dynamat. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading, Carlos

Nice speakers! I had a pair with the same mods yours has and I was always impressed with the quickness of the lower mid-bass. Tight bass as well. IMO, the centrally placed tweeter in the Line Source Array gives the best compromise of pinpoint imaging and depth placement with SDA width. Enjoy!!

Don't have much time to post, but here is a link to the thread I did the upgrades to my 3.1TL's including rings. Important info in here: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/show....1TL%27s+rings
