If your talking about the one George is selling in the FM then it is a good price. I trust him when he says it works. From some others I would need to hear it first.

If you can fix the lights it would be worth flipping but it also has a good sound. Marantz from that era had a nice feel to the music they produced.

its on craigslist in south florida...the seller says its in perfect working order...only thing that is sub-par is the on/off button and power cord were replaced and the antenna is missing

i was planning on either hooking it up to my Polk SDA CRS's or maybe just sell it to make some of my stereos investment not hurt as much.

It is only 35 - 40 watts per channel. Although you could use it as a preamp and get a separate amp later.

I sell a lot of Marantz 220000 out of my little store, if working and in good cosmetic shape $150 is good for one you're going to keep. You won't flip it and make money.

thanks for the insight....i thought they were a little more rare..

i also thought that while the watts per channel was low, that they had extrodinary power and sound...thus making them good for the crs...any truth to that?

For the price I would think they should sound pretty good with the CRS's. It wont set the world on fire but should be a nice sound.

I will add that I was wrong about adding an amp later. Looking at the model it has no preamp capabilities.

That's a good price on that unit. You will have to bring it up to speed...but if you have some tech skills that should be easy. I just had another vintage Receiver serviced for around 50...realigned tuner and corrected a tuner problem, DeOxit on everything. Checked DC offset, thorough cleaning inside, and so on. Well worth it. Really improved the reception and sound.

Joe is right about possibly frying some CRSs so take care. If it does have pre-outs and you want to thump louder, then add an external amp.

Marantz, IMHO, are generally overpriced because they're held in high regard, rightly or wrongly. I've compared my 2265 to my Pioneer SX-838, and on some speakers the Pio actually sounds better to my ears?

    Good Luck!

I would buy a Pioneer or Sansui in an instant. I prefer there sound over most from that era.
