Can we please fix the bug where characters are changed to '?'. This started with the last upgrade 6 months or so ago.

This is an example from another post earlier tonight.

"?What?s changed [is that if] you want to cancel your OnStar service, we are going to maintain a two-way connection to your vehicle unless the customer says otherwise,? Denison said in a telephone interview."

The upgrade seems to have opened the floodgates for the spammers.

The site is fine - once the color scheme goes back to something familiar, the complaining should throttle back. But +1 on the sudden increase in spammers. I forget - is there an unlock captcha included in the registration process?

during registration there is a human verification section. Spammers tend to get used to one system so we switch it up when things get bad. We're currently using reCaptcha

^^^ Sometimes but not all the time. I use IE at work and I hate IE and it might have something to do with that. I'll have to monitor it when I'm home, there I use Firefox.

Not sure why everyone is up in arms. It is different, that is for sure. But to say its the worst or it sucks is exaggerating the situation quite a bit.

It just isn't the same anymore.

Yep, occasionally as H9 points out, When I see that, it reminds me of sites that are trying to force you to stay with them if they realize you are not interested in their sales pitch (booby traps). :)

Do you think spammer(s) took advantage of the switch over knowing IT and admins would be busy getting things tweaked? Could be wrong but it seemed it was the same spammer using multiple names or maybe a team of spammers from the same devil organisation. Would bombard multiple threads with multiple spams within the same thread. At one time, the spamming was overpowering the legitimate threads.

I know this happens sometimes bc of ckeditor (which is what vbulletin uses for the quick reply, etc)

Not to argue, but I belong to several forums that use vbulletin, I've never had it happen at any of them. There must be a fix.

I don't mind the new color scheme, but for those that do, why not let them select their own like many VB forums do. Here's some examples of one that lets the user change it to several different choices:

We'll have a look around to see if anything can be changed to fix. I'm sure vbulletin wouldn't push updates that weren't 100% ready

You can change the forum theme at the bottom of the page or in your profile settings. We don't have any others installed at the moment. IIRC the old version didn't allow you to pick anyway.

Great job making thread titles bold, and making the thread text a bit darker. Much easier to read now. Get rid of the envelopes, and replace the smiley icons with the old icons, and you will be done.

    Thanks.

working on the envelopes now. this one is a bit tougher than I imagined. Can't completely get rid of the thread icons, but they can be anything else once I figure out how to change them without breaking everything.

Exclamation I can see (the emoticons) says the blind man!

Great job on the emoticons guys! I'm no longer blind, I can see, they look good too!

Now can we have them all in the drop instead of having to chose more? Don't forget the ones for the title!

Now would there also be any way to be in the advance mode as default when replying instead of quick reply (used to be advanced before)?

There is a button to the right of posting a quick reply that says "go advanced"

    use that

One more emotican please. The 'rolls eyes' icon is one of the better ones for expression in many situations. Thanks for the help.

Yes Patrick, I realize that and it is what I have been doing but IMHO, this should be the opposite. As it was in the older version, the default should be advance and you select quick reply only if you need it. I do not know about other Polkies but my self I was rarely using quick reply since you loose too many options and you need to go to advance if you want to use them.
