Default RTi 12s to Def Tech BP 6 or 8s

I am starting to doubt that I will be able to afford to properly power my RTi 12s anytime soon. I am considering selling these and trying to find a pair of well cared for BP6s or 8s that won't cost too much to switch.

Would my VSX-23 (110wpc) would do a good job of powering either of these speakers? And would they be a good match with the rest of my Polk gear? I got to hear a pair of BP 6s powered by a similarly powered Sony ES AVR a while back, and they sounded incredible.

I picked up a pair of BP-6's off craigslist for $60, the socks were terrible but other than that they were in good shape. I liked them, but not near as much as my Rti8's. They're really small sitting next to my 8's, im sure the 12's would make them look like bookshelves. I didn't think they sounded bad at all but the bass was a little bloated sounding and they just didn't do it for me. Sold them the same week for $300 and I got to try em out for a few days, not a bad deal.

60 bucks is a great deal. I have been looking and can get a pair of BP 10s for around 500.00. If I could get 400.00 for my 12s, then I might pull the trigger on those. I have heard Def Tech has Polk bloodlines and the BP10s, although I have never heard them, get rave reviews.

Man about 2 weeks ago I saw a pair of BP10's for $120 on CL! I called immediately and he said someone was coming by that evening, I offered him $180 to blow the other guy off but he wouldn't do it. I really wanted to hear the BP10's, might have even considered selling my center and surrounds if I really liked em, I just don't have the ideal placement/room for bipole speakers. Good luck and i'd like to hear what you think if you find some.

Your telling me the vsx23 isn't powering them? Your not happy with the sound quality you are getting? Maybe you don't really like the Rti12's , maybe sell them and get a pair of RTia7's which IMO are a better sounding speaker. Problem solved.

Absolutely, I don't blame him and give him props. I thought it was worth a shot though?

I just picked up a pair of BP10s on ebay for a little over $300. They sound really good. I agree a bit with B-run though that the BP10s (and all the definitives really) are big on bass.

A friend of mine has BP8s and they sound about the same as the 10s. I was surprised how small they are though. They're really only the size of TSi300s or so.

Look for a set of BP20 - they go for a little over 5-600 and are every bit as loud and insane as the RTi12

I dont know if you already sold your RTI's. what will be the purpose of your upgrade? for home theater or for audio? currently i have bp8's....they are great in hometheater set up since they are bipolar. downside is if you are going to use them for your audio, better think twice.
i have set the lsi15's side to side with the bp8's and i notice the difference between the 2. bp8 lacks balance, better dispersion, clarity and bass(deep, well defined). this is the reason why i kept my bp8 for HTheater alone and the lsi's for my audio.
