Default JB Weld - does it really make a difference

If I am going to do the tweaks, I only want to do this once :). I have read a lot of comments on JB Weld. Does it really make a difference in applying to driver magnets? If so, what exactly is it supposed to do?

    Thanks,

It keeps the rear magnet stucture intact!

I lightly tapped a driver once to make it fit into a tight recess.....BAD IDEA. The speaker imediately froze up due to the magnet jaring loose and slamming tight against the frame and coil.

It keeps the magnet from falling off. As the drivers age the original glue weakens and a sharp, blunt force to the cabinet could cause it to fall off. If it does, the voice coil shifts and the driver freezes up and is toast. This is very good piece of mind. It has nothing to do with making them sound better. Just reinforcement to keep the magnets from possibly falling off in the future.

Ah... Thanks to both of you. For the price of JB Weld it sounds like it is worth it.

+1, I have some sitting on my desk at the moment, will probably do the drivers in my new Monitor 10s soon! Never hurts to be safe, especially when your speakers are in good working order!

Don't you have to apply it to the underside as well as the top of the magnet? I think so. Yep,

see post #17 and apply it like that . If you have alot to do, It'll save you some money.
