I saw that he went into hospice care the other day. A champion in every way. RIP

I remember when he took the title from Ali. All us kids were watching the fight on TV, rooting for Joe. Ali had been trash talking him so badly and Frazier broke his jaw in that fight, IIRC.

Smoking Joe, he was the man. I grew up watching him, Love the memories.
Not an Audiophile, just a dude who loves music, and decent gear to hear it with.

+1, I was in second grade at the time. I disliked Ali because of his mouth.

Are you guys kidding? That fight was 'only' in 1971! My father had the Life Mag. with the classic shots of the fight. And what a fight that was. That really was Joe's last best fight. Many of us felt that the beating he took at the hands of Ali even though he won took too much from him. He was never at such a peak in subsequent fights.

RIP, Joe. A heart as big as the world. I remember that Foreman fight, I couldn't believe how Joe kept popping up after being decked again and again by one of the biggest baddest punchers of all time. It was scary yet 'amazing'!

RIP Joe Frazier, I loved hearing him on Howard Stern. He was a funny man and one hell of a fighter in his day.

Now read about it from George's point of view after the first knock down....

"I saw him get up and I said to myself 'Oh boy, he's going to get me now," Foreman recalled Tuesday during a telephone interview. "You didn't want him getting up, and you really didn't want him getting up mad."
    RIP Smokin' Joe
