If that happened, she'd be blowing more than tweeters.

OOOPS...did I just say that out loud ? My bad....I meant she has nice tweeters. Wait....that's not right either.

Having tried all of the usual suspects in the used market - nad, adcom, carver, acurus, etc., I can tell you that to my ears the Emotiva amps sound at least as good if not better, and are sold new with a five year warranty for similar prices as the used competition. In that sense they're always on sale. The sale doesn't end until they start raising prices, like many successful companies do once they've broken through. But as things stand now, you can get a brand new 125/200 watt amp with a five year warranty for $299. When the sale is over I assume it goes back to $349. Either price for what you receive represents an astonishing accomplishment.

Cubdog, did you end up picking up the XDA-2? That's a pheonomenal price. Again another thread with an honest question and tons of thread crapping. I keep seeing this over and over.

The down-side to Brand specific forums such as Polk is that you have Brand-Specific followers. You can't have an adult conversation with children in the room.

It's everywhere, it's like people see red when they see a brand name or discussion on certain topics, they have to start throwing stones or insulting people that like certain types of gear. I'm on several audio forums, just haven't participated much on this one until recently and this seems to be more prevalent here than I've seen on others. On a few of them the thread or posts just get deleted for 'thread crapping' and the offenders cautioned/banned with repeat occurrences. You have an OP soliciting a certain piece of information such as here but then suddenly it avalanches into a ton of brand-bashing posts and then factions outright insulting each other. The folks in these forums are a bunch of hobbyists that share the commonality of loving music and the ancillary equipment that reproduces it; you'd think that a group with that much in common would get along and find ways to interact in a productive manner but the need for human beings to become divisive is so great that even among a like-minded group people find ways to argue over brands, opinions, etc. There are ways that people can express these opinions such as 'I've never been a big fan of emotiva, I have preferred x brand' without being outright denigrating to the person that likes said brand. We've all got brands we're not a fan of but we've all got different ears. We're founded on diversity of thought, appearance, etc. are we really going to foam at the mouth and argue with each other over audio philosophies and brands? We're all in different households with different incomes and needs that drive our purchasing decisions.

My second observation is that these arguments are coordinated, i.e. there are like minded cabals and factions. When one person voices an opinion that is contrary to a certain cabal within a day the same group of affiliated individuals drops in supportive posts and tries to smother the contrary opinion with raw volume of posts. Eventually an opposing cabal comes into play and the threads become completely unsalvageable with each side trying to 'win' the debate through volume of posts quantity of like-minded folks sharing the same opinion. If enough people said that the earth was flat in a contested thread then obviously that faction would be the winner by volume of posts and quantity of like-minded supporting posts.

I'm guessing that there is bad blood between certain forum members that has built up for years and every new thread is an opportunity for another battleground. I don't know. It's just an observation. Lots of demagoguery going on with lots of followers for the demagogues and the immediate desire to supress or remove divergent opinions.

It's always the same group. You learn to ignore it. Ironically, I suppose, those same people become hysterical when their gear is called into question. An almost comical hypocrisy.

You couldn't be more wrong in your uninformed comment. While this is the Polk Audio forum, we discuss any brand of audio gear ever made from vintage to new quite freely. While you may not like your baby being called ugly that does not mean folks with expereinced opinions should not voice them.

I guess the question is, why does someone have the desire to call someone else's baby ugly? Ugly is subjective not fact, there are ways to say you don't prefer the appearance of the baby without making the parents feel terrible.

It is compared to the others Toolfan66, I will agree. Nobody has outright called someone else a liar or stupid or uninformed....yet.

I'd almost like to create a Bose thread just to see what happens there but if i did that I would straight up be a terrible troller. That would be the most epic trainwreck on the forum. I bet it's happened before though at some point right?

Here's a friendly suggestion, stop trying to police the forum as it's not needed or wanted.

I am in complete agreement. What gets my hackles up is when some newb jumps in here and calls the members of this family a bunch of "children". Many here have forgotten more about the hobby of audio than this guy will ever learn.

I came here when I bought my Polks. As a relative noob to the Audio side of things, ( I know enough to know I don't know enough) I welcome everyone's input. If I don't agree with it I will ignore it. If I can't afford a suggestion I will ask for a cost effective alternative.

Flaming happens everywhere, almost makes me miss the days of the format war on the HD forums....almost. LOL

But your opinion is wanted in literally every topic possible F1nut? Yours should be the sole determinant of what should be said or not? Is my frustration at your hostility level frustrating you and making you hostile?

Perhaps you should contact a mod and let them know that you are offended by someone asking for things to cool down.

Toolfan66, I say some pretty brutal stuff to my buddies and expect them to give me tons of crap. That's what I expect from my buddies. I'm with you on that one, I usually have a super thick skin strangely enough some of the stuff I'm reading here makes my skin a lot thinner and it's unusual. I'm not the only one saying this is the thing

Perhaps if I burned a lot of time and got another 10 or 20 people to back me and jump into my thread then I could become a demagogue of peace, the Nelson Mandela or Martin Luther King of the Polk forums right? My ego isn't that big, I'm just someone with time to burn over the holidays that wishes people could talk about things without going for each other's throats.

Just saying this and wishing for better is making people go for my throat. It's kind of self illustrating.

mccarty, I know which thread you reference and chalk it up to never having dealt with that member. There are things that happen through PM that cannot and should not be aired out in plain view. I stay away from said member now after realizing how twisted he really is. Sometimes though, he can still draw us in.

The CORE of this forum (including F1nut) is here to help. While you may not agree with their perspective, there is a plethora of experience here that the opinions are drawn from.
