    Default Squeezebox setup

Ok fellers, I've had "Connecting to Mysqueezebox.com" for about 15 minutes...is there a problem?

It found my network, I've got the server software running, etc, etc

    Like your amp - I have a 500, which does very well//

Be sure your SBS is running, and connected to the Internet .. is the Duet receiver light white or blue ?

Worst case, do a restore to factory...but the SBS machine needs to be restarted first..

The manual for the Touch suggests rebooting your router. This is usually accomplished by unplugging the power cord for 30 to 60 seconds.

Try temporarily disabling your antivirus and firewall and see if that makes a difference. Something could be blocking those ports.

Good point and even if it's not Steve's problem, it should be noted that any computer based system needs to have that sleep mode turned off.

Got it working this morning. Forgot that my cable modem had the firewall set a maximum protection. Right now it's off (had to get my butt to work), but I'll try to set it to the highest level that will still allow LMS to access.

Didn't have the time to do any critical listening, but I did spin up (or is that "stream up"?) David Benoit "Every step of the way" while getting ready for work---initial impressions---I'm impressed, so far. No extraneous noise, sounded good, ect. More to come later...

Thanks all for the suggestions/help. Appreciate it.

if you've got an extra computer (or phone for that matter) on your network, then a quick test is always to browse to http://192.168.1.x:9000 (or whatever your tcpip scheme is) and see if you can connect to squeezecenter (or whatever they call it now).

By the way, if you have an iphone, ipad, or ipod touch, you simply must get the iPeng app.

This evening I'll go thru the settings/options (didn't have time this morning) and settle in for some serious listening. I've got it connected via DH Labs coaxial to my DAC. Still have a pant-load of CD's to rip as well, but I have enough completed to do some extended listening. Whenever I connect a new component, the FIRST thing I listen for is noise, hum, etc. Didn't detect any of that; we'll see how it goes.

Think you're going to be quite pleased. Welcome to Club Squeezebox. Once you have it all figured out, next thing to do is get a Squeezebox Radio for your nightstand. Makes for a great little alarm clock, and I've seen them as cheap as $79 for a refurb.

I LOVE my Squeeze Radio for my upstairs bedroom. The Squeeze Boom is quite impressive as well for a portable stereo player, I think it sounds better than the Bose Wave Radio

Glad you got things squared away Steve, I wan't much help because I set mine up a few years ago and don't remeber all the settings. I think you will be very impressed. Never heard a sound other than blackness from either of my SQB's.

+1 for the Boom, I have one in my office. Great sound, I don't really understand why they stopped making it, as it serves a somewhat different purpose than the Radio.

1 "con" about the Squeezebox (well, Logitech really) is the absolutely poor manual. There's no explanantion of any of the settings, and very few potential problems/fixes discussed---good thing we have the intenet.

Steve, that's typical for a lot of stuff like this nowadays. Plus, with the infinite settings and capabilities and configurations the manual would most likely be a large book. But yes the Squeeze forum is very helpful, but can be time consuming trying to search a particular topic.

Yeah, that's true. You see that more and more these days. I use SageTV (now bought by google), they've never had much in terms of documentation either, and it's a much more complex setup than the Squeezebox. Most of what you need to learn you have to find by trolling through their forums.

Part of the reason is that it's open-source, so a lot of plugin's built by third party developers. Squeezebox is pretty straightforward, and not many glitches, it won't take you long to get the hang of it.

Same goes for Media Monkey, open source and no user manual.

    Default Logitech Media Server

If you're running the new Squeezebox Server (7.7) a.k.a. Logitech Media Server you might want to download this nightly build. I had problems with Pandora and TuneIn radio not connecting to their networks. There was an authentication error and the nightly version fixed it.

*edit* The link to download the nightly build is in the first post after you click the link above

I've had my touch for about 3 weeks and I'm still discovering new things. One thing for sure it's one of the best audio purchases I've ever made. Nothing better than unlimited music choices. Enjoy it Steve!
