    Default 3000p Mains

    Help with wiring!

    Current wiring:

I have a Pio SC-57 (using pre outs to the amp), Sunfire Grand Cinema Amp (405 wpc & using speaker wire to the towers). I wire with RCA cables from the AVR to the Sunfire Amp then on to the current mains with speaker wire.

Now that I have a set of RT3000ps I need to understand the best way to wire with the cables or speaker wire.

Polk RT3000p wiring for Normal: AVR --------Main Amp--------Tower amp--------Main speakers

Option: AVR ---------Tower amp in------out---------Main Amp----------Main speakers

What is the best way to wire it all getting the upower of the 405 wpc from the sunfire main amp to the 3000p tower mains?

    Thanx, Bill

do you have the manual? It discusses the pros and cons of each setup. Here is a download of the manual: http://www.polkaudio.com/downloads/m...000pManual.pdf

I use line level off the amp into the sub then use a jumper from the sub to the monitor with the jumper plates on the monitors installed.

the way I described above means that you are using the towers xover. This is the ideal way in the setup you are using.

you could also use a splitter on the pre-out to feed your amp as well as the corresponding subwoofer, I don't particularly care for this option as I dont like the idea of using splitters, but It may have a benefit as you will not be passing the signal through 2 xover networks (one in the sub and then one in the monitor)

Third, you could run your speakers off the receiver. I think you'd be surprised how good the amp section is in that unit. (I ran mine with an SC-37 and was very impressed) This would allow you to run cable from the AVR to the monitors and then run an interconnect from the preout to the sub RCA input.

Lastly, You could run cable to the monitors from the amp and then run an interconnect from the subwoofer out on the AVR (if you arent using a sub in your system) and then utilize the xover on your AVR

I'll wire them as per the 1st option in the manual. Also, I really don't have the proper mains for those 3000p's so I'm using a set of RT55's. However, those 3000p bottoms are rosewood and are primo as well as the amp.

I think that should be fine using the rt55's Theyre a little larger, if I recall. The other thing is that I read somewhere that the rt3000p monitors implement some filter below 60hz or some such thing

After trying both ways with my RT3000's and now the SRT's, it's my opinion that the bass is cleaner and tighter when you use a splitter off the back of your AVR. If you contact Signal Cable, they will custom make a spliter RCA cable that minimizes loss of signal and I highly recommend that approach.
