Bi-Amp Tsi 500 Speakers

I have my Tsi-500 Speakers bi-amped using an Adcom GFA-535L on the top poles and a GFA-545 on the bottom poles. Both amps are sending a signal but I can only get sound from the bottom poles. Nothing from the top. If I connect either amp to the bottom poles I get sound. If I connect either to the top poles I get no sound. I am testing this with a static white noise signal, so shouldn't I hear something from the top poles? Even if is the tweeter? Why do I only get sound from the bottom poles?

One of two things come to mind.

One- do you have both amps connected by a splitter from the receiver/preamp ? In other words, you have to split the signal comming out of the receiver, so one goes to each amp, for each set of poles.

TWO- you toasted the tweeters.

Yes, I do. But problem persists, when I remove the Y and directly connect to amp going to the high-end directly to my main reciever pre-out.

So take the tweeters out of the enclosure and wire them directly to your receiver. Make sure the receiver is turned VERY LOW. If no sound comes out, the tweeter is toasted. IF sound comes out, your crossover is likely the culprit.

Speakers are only seven months old. Polk is a very durable brand. This would be disappointing @ $800 and very uncommon considering both speakers are affected.

It wouldn't be uncommon, likely if you fried the tweeter in one, it would fry the other because you clipped them or fed them some dirty signal.

I did this. The tweeters do not work. The crossovers do. I attached another high end speaker to the wires and there was sound. Did connecting the amps to the same pre-out, using a y-connector cause this to happen?

Doubtful, more likely a faulty amp or you drove them to burning out.

I never drove them hard, but I think I blew them when I first hooked them up. I know I blew the fuses in the amp. My bad. quess I'll need to order replacements. Thanks for the help.
