I guess this could be interesting as a uni-tasker. Although quite a few wireless routers nowdays have a USB port specifically for this reason. And with network drives, seems redundant to have a USB hard drive when you could just connect it directly to the network itself and cut out the "middleman"
Then again - this would certaintly keep you from buying all new equipment if you already had USB devices. Maybe it's just that I'm in IT and have a broad understanding of what already exists, but unless I'm missing something - this is nothing to write home about.

Another easy option is to simply connect the USB drive to another PC in the house and share it from there.
The Demo is shown using an iPad. you can't connect an external USB drive to an iPad. For me it's not useful because I don't own an iPad.
I many USB hard drives and all I need to do is connect them using their USB cables to my Mac or PCs. So I really don't need one.
The other cool feature is that you can play "windows" files through this guy's App on your iPad.
